I have a journalism background so I'm naturally "nosy." I make it a point to know as much as I can about all things Fairytale Brownies, so if you have any questions, just ask!
If you're looking for a way to spend time in the beautiful outdoors this weekend, Local First Arizona's 10th Annual Certified Local Fall Festival is the event you'll want to attend at Portland Parkway in Phoenix.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, more than 100 vendors will sell handmade gifts and products you won't be able to find anywhere else. Local restaurants and food trucks will sample and sell their delicious products.
Local First will be giving away gift bags to the first 500 festival attendees, and there will be plenty of raffle and silent auction prizes throughout the day. Two Fall Pumpkin Spice Combos will be given away at the festival.
There will be live music, a wine and beer garden, and fun activities for the kids. The event truly is a family affair.
Fairytale Brownies was prepared with plenty of $1 rejects for customers to purchase at last week's Open House, and our customers didn't disappoint. Generous "promoters of play" donated $2,000 to the national nonprofit KaBOOM! in just three hours!
Fairytale Brownies and KaBOOM! have been play partners since 2001. Since that time, we have contributed more than $100,000, along with brownies, cookies and countless volunteer hours working toward building safe places for children to play within walking distance of every child in America.
Fairytale Brownies customers help us promote play by donating funds at the end of their online purchases. We match ever dollar donated, up to $5,000 at the end of the year. Visit here to learn more about giving the gift of play.
A big thank you to all though who came by to purchase rejects, sample product and say hello to the Fairytale crew. It was so nice to chat with all of you!
Here are some other photos from our Open House last week:
I've been gathering recipes for a variety of dessert dips and recently made this WHIPPED PUMPKIN DIP to serve with our Fairytale Brownies, Cookies and Bars at next week's After Hours Open House.
It's extremely easy to make, and quite tasty. I brought a batch of dip with a variety of gourmet brownies cut into smaller pieces to a party. During the evening, I noticed someone dipping raw vegetables into the pumpkin mixture. She said she was just using the carrot sticks as a serving utensil to eat the dip by itself.
If you like pumpkin and whipped cream, you might do the same thing.

1 (15 oz.) can pumpkin
1 (1.34 oz.) package instant vanilla pudding

When you give your boss Fairytale Brownies for Boss's Day on Thursday, he or she might want to know why you chose gourmet brownies as a gift:
1. Fairytale Brownies are baked with Callebaut brand Belgian dark chocolate, the finest chocolate makers for more than 100 years. Fairytale is a fine brownie baker for 22 years! Bosses love success stories, especially when they're delicious.
2. The definition of "gourmet" as an adjective: . Bosses appreciate high-quality work from their employees, so they more than likely will love high-quality (or gourmet) brownies.
3. Your boss took a chance and hired YOU out of all of the candidates applying for your position. You were the "gourmet" of the group. Recognizing the boss's good taste in hiring practices by giving gourmet brownies is just the right thing to do. Send a brownie gift for Boss's Day.
Twenty-two years ago, David Kravetz and Eileen Spitalny began their entrepreneurial adventure to bake the best gourmet brownies by co-founding the mail order company Fairytale Brownies. Today, their business not only bakes delicious fudge brownies, the duo has added chewy cookies and buttery blondie bars to the menu... all of which rival their delicious gourmet brownies.
For the past several years we've celebrated Fairytale Brownies' anniversary month with an Open House - sharing new packaging and new products, sampling all of our product flavors, and selling our "reject" brownies for $1. All proceeds from the sale of the rejects go to our national nonprofit partner KaBOOM!
This year's Open House will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at our bakery on Cotton Center Blvd. (48th St. & Broadway Rd.). Because we are introducing our new Pumpkin Spice Brownie, the party has taken on a "fall" theme. We will serve apple cider, water, coffee, and all of the Fairytale Brownies cookie,...Read More
Because our fudge brownies, gourmet cookies and buttery blondie bars are baked with quality ingredients, and our packaging is custom designed, most people react animatedly when they receive a Fairytale Brownies gift. This reaction is all a part of the "Fairytale Experience." The following is a recent recipient's response when a brownie gift was sent to her from Kim Silva, Operations Team Leader:
The Brownies! OMG!
My first brownie was the “Espresso Nib”.
Just the right sweetness…
Just the right cake-like melt-in-your-mouth smoothness…
Just the right crunchiness…
I will be saving them in my freezer and doling them out to myself to savor for the next 6 months. I will remember you and David with each bite!
But the Experience of JOY! OMG!
You see, the package may have been delivered last night, but I received it this morning when Jasmine went outside.
The pristine packaging – the white box by my front door…
The name, Fairytale Brownies, Did someone want to send me...
When my 7-year-old asked me to meet his new friend's Mom, I was too depressed to make the effort to go outside to do so. We were new to the area, and although my kids were making friends, it wasn't happening for me. But I put on my happy face and went out to introduce myself.
Although I don't remember the exact conversation, I discovered they were newcomers as well. I KNEW we were going to be great friends when I asked her how she liked the area and she burst into tears and said, "I hate it!"
That was 21 years ago. Although we live 1,000 miles away from each other now, our friendship remains just as solid as it was when we were together having adventures with (and without) our families. I DO owe her a phone call though.
As National Women's Friendship Day approaches (Sept. 22), I'm thinking about all of the women friends in my life and my heart is filled with joy. I wish I could send brownies to each of them!
Let your women friends know you're thinking about them, too.
You might have heard that Phoenix had some rain this week - perfect weather to bake something delicious and curl up with a good book. Although I didn't succumb to the "baking" desire, (the temperatures are still in the 90s after all), I DID create a delicious concoction without using an oven.

"Grandparents are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories, and love." - Author Unknown
If you're lucky enough to live near your grandparents, let them know how special they are with a visit on Sunday, Grandparents Day. Depending on how active the grandparents are, your day could be as strenuous as listening to music on the living room couch, or playing football in the park.
Even if you don't live close to your grandparents, let them know you're thinking of them by sending a gourmet gift from Fairytale Brownies. What a treat it would be to receive a delicious batch of fudge brownies or a cookie gift from a loved one. Usually it's the Grandma that bakes the dessert!
I'm not a grandparent yet, but many friends and most of my siblings have been granted that honor. I've seen the love they have for their children and it doesn't compare to the love they have for the grandchildren. It's like someone sprinkled fairy dust on them and their "happy place" IS their...Read More
You're killing me.
What IS that?
Oh, that is the bomb.
What a pleasure to hear people's reactions to tasting Fairytale Brownies' new Pumpkin Spice Brownie at a recent trade show in Long Beach, Calif. The new seasonal brownie debuts Sept. 2 and we gave show attendees a sneak preview.
Overall, the reviews were positive. On the first day of our show, we only had one person say he didn't care for the new flavor. He not only didn't care for it, he passionately said, "I hate it."
He brought his wife back with him to our booth on the second day and told her how much he hated the fudge brownie. He wanted her to sample it and give her opinion. She tasted it and loved it.
I get it. Not everyone likes pumpkin. Not everyone likes chocolate either. I can't imagine why, but to each his own. Personally, I LOVE pumpkin. I can't wait for the season of everything pumpkin to return. And now that Fairytale will have a Pumpkin Spice Brownie, I couldn't be happier.
Our Pumpkin Spice Brownie doesn't...Read More
