Beer, brownies, backpacks: Happy hour with a purpose

Walnut Brownie You might think that the only thing beer, brownies and backpacks have in common is the fact that the three words begin with the letter "B." Normally, that would be true. But from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, the three words will come together for a cause.

Beer - Happy Hour at Rose & Crown, 628 E. Adams St., Phoenix. Tickets are $10 and include four full bottles/cans of beer.

Brownies - Snack-sized Walnut Sprites from Fairytale Brownies will be given to attendees.

Backpacks - Half of the ticket price will go towards the Legacy Connection Backpack Buddies program which provides more than 5,000 Phoenix-area elementary school-age children from low-income families with back-to-school supplies and clothing.

Phoenix New Times sponsors a Brews to Benefit happy hour each month at locations considered hip and popular. We hope you can make it to the Rose & Crown this Thursday. If you can't, there's still a way to donate to Legacy's Backpack Buddies. Click here.
