Fairytale Brownies and Graduation - What a Combo!

Thursday, June 24, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein
It's that season again...people are graduating from high school, college, graduate programs...what a GREAT time to send brownies to all those deserving people!

Speaking of, my best friend, Carmen Nason of Wichita Falls, TX recently graduated from the RN program after 2 years of hard work and sacrifice, including her husband being deployed from the Air Force Reserves. While she was in school & working a full time job as a CNA, I decided to ship brownies to her family just because she deserved a treat.  She loved them so much, she hid them from the kids!!

Since she recently graduated, and her husband (also one of my best friends) is back home safely, I think it's time to send more of those delicious Belgian chocolate brownies to Texas once again.  It's a small way to tell her how proud I am of her hard work, and how glad I am that her husband Ron made it home safely.

Gourmet Welcome Brownie Treats

Wednesday, June 23, 2010 by Kari Gayes
This weekend, one of my best friends from college is coming to visit, and I am really excited. We haven't seen each other since December (and only for breakfast), so it's going to be a fun weekend, even if it is 105 degrees! She has always loved Fairytale Brownies and gets really excited whenever I send brownies to her back in Indiana. So, when she gets here, I'm going to thank her for coming with a gourmet brownie gift that she can take home with her. I find that a box of the best brownies around can make anyone feel right at home wherever they are!

OMG - JUST OUT OF THIS WORLD  ****** (5 stars)
"At first I said how can they be worth the money for brownies, but boy was I wrong. With every bite, you can taste the high quality of the recipe and there are many flavors for everyone. They can each have their favorite. I guess it is true, you get what you pay for. I will wait for easy pay to buy again, but I will buy again and again and again!"

"I have purchased these brownies for many years for my family, friends, co-workers, and customers. I also gave a box of Sprites to my child's teachers. These have always been of terrific quality and we have enjoyed all of the flavors. One tip... if you can't eat them all at once, put them in the freezer and take out as needed. Great warm with a little ice-cream!"

Brownies for Soldiers

Friday, June 18, 2010 by Ellie Perry
This month we shipped packages of brownie gifts to members of the Military.  Soldiers' Angels/Angel Bakers and Soldiers' Angels/Ladies of Liberty provided us with a list of soldiers who need some extra TLC.  We shipped brownies to over 30 servicemen and women.   We received thank you cards this week.  One card reads "Thank you for your thoughfulness by sending the brownies.  Night shift enjoyed them. Thank you again" This card was from SFC Diana.  Another card reads "Many thanks to you and Soldiers' Angels!"

We offer free shipping to APO and FPO addresses.  With July 4th approaching, we'll have many of our Patriotic band gifts on sale.
Thank you Soldiers' Angels for all you do to provide care packages to the troops!

Brownie with your sandwich? You can in Phoenix, Mill Valley or San Francisco.

Friday, June 18, 2010 by Eileen Spitalny
Growing up in Phoenix, "the Duck", aka Duck and Decanter (2 locations) is/was the best place to get a sandwich and sit under the trees. Now owning Fairytale Brownies, I love that they sell Fairytale Brownies so I can add that on to my Genoa or Where's the Beef sandwich. And as we are growing our wholesale outreach now you can get a brownie with your sandwich in Mill Valley or San Francisco.

Mill Valley Market which is family owned just like the Duck is an awesome sandwich, wine, cheese/chocolate shop. They are now selling our belgian chocolate brownies in 6 varieties. And as my best friend from college lives there, I will be able to get a brownie with my sandwich this summer while visiting. They are at 12 Corte Madera. And just in case I'm not full I can now get a brownie with my sandwich at the Rincon Market in the city. Rincon is a small gourmet grocery and deli in the SOMA district at 98 Howard St (between Spear & Stuart St). Yum - Happy Summer eating!

Child Care with Fairytale Brownies

Thursday, June 17, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein

I have to admit, I have a great daycare provider for my daughter. They cater to the school-age kids and diversify their activities during the summer with field trips, water play days, Wii Olympics…you name it, they’ve probably done it! Recently, as thank you gifts for the director Heather, and assistant directors Deann and Lisa, I’ve been delivering our Belgian chocolate brownies. Now, mind you, this is a daycare center, so nut products are prohibited, therefor I make sure to only bring the allowed flavors. Heather’s favorite is the Espresso Nib, and Deann and Lisa like any flavors I can manage to get to them, the most recent being Original. I think I’ve created chocolate brownie addicts out of them!

The kids in School Age have started noticing too. When I come in to get my daughter, her best friend asks me when I can bring her some fudgy brownies, and all the other kids notice my Fairytale Brownies shirt and ask what I do. So I tell them: I get to send brownies to lucky people all over the world! (I think they’re jealous)! So, maybe sometime soon I’ll have to bring a HUGE box of brownies in, so everyone can enjoy!

More Brownie Photo Shoot!

Tuesday, June 15, 2010 by Kari Gayes
Erin, David and I are back at Rick Gayle Studio taking photos for our holiday gourmet brownie gift catalogs, and I thought I would share a few behind-the-scenes photos. We've been taking pictures of new towers and tins that will be full of fudgy brownies for the holidays, and they all look delicious. Today is the first day we've taken photos of our new Fairytale Cookies, and we are excited to offer customers the opportunity of getting cookies delivered along with our brownies. They are looking and tasting good!

Here's Erin with a plate of cosmetic sponges that our food stylist, Kim, uses to prop up our brownies.

And here I am tying ribbon around our monstrous new 6-box Fairytale Tower. It's 20 inches tall, and full of Fairytale Brownies and Cookies and other goodies!

And here's Kim working on our new Christmas Tower set.

Gourmet Brownies Delivered FREE to APO/FPO Addresses!

Monday, June 14, 2010 by Hilary Lee
Today is June 14th, which in the U.S. is Flag Day. According to the site USflag.org, the 4th of July was traditionally celebrated as "America's Birthday," but the idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885. Then in 1894, the governor of New York directed that June 14th be designated Flag Day and Flags be displayed on all public buildings. Thus, sparked many patriotic programs throughout the US. But it was not until August 3rd, 1949 that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th as National Flag Day.

On days like today, I often reflect on what it means to me and I find myself thinking about our Military servicemen and women stationed around the world. Chest swelling with pride, I'd like to shout from the rooftops that I am proud to be an American, and send a heartfelt "Thank You" to our Military who remind me that freedom is not free.

Though freedom is not free, we can still show our appreciation and support by sending our soldiers care packages full of homemade treats for free. One way that Fairytale Brownies shows our support and appreciation is by offering Free Shipping on any gift that goes to an APO or FPO address year round. This helps our military families who send brownies to their loved ones, or even those who have anonymously adopted a soldier to send a gift of thanks and support.

Gourmet Brownies Handcrafted With Food Safety In Mind

Friday, June 11, 2010 by David Kravetz
Not only do we bake the best brownies in the world - they're baked with meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to providing a safe and wholesome treat.  This means we thoroughly inspect all incoming ingredients, track lot codes, bake nut-based brownies on separate days, and maintain a spotless facility.  Our Baking Team adheres to strict Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).  These industry standards ensure that every time we ship brownies, you can rest assured they are created with safety in mind.

In addition to regular self-inspections, we have also been inspected by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the American Institute of Baking ("Superior" rating), and Costco Wholesale (one of the strictest inspections nationally).  We also receive regular inspections from the Maricopa County Arizona Healthy Department.  Below is a picture of our most recent inspection certificate that shows we have received the highest gold rating on all of our inspections.  We are all very proud to receive this recognition.

So the next time you decide to order brownies from Fairytale Brownies, you'll receive fabulous brownies that are also baked to the highest standards!

Sleepover with Fairytale Brownies

Thursday, June 10, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein

My daughter recently had her first slumber party! She invited her closest friends from school, and made a “fun-genda”. For all of you without daughters, that’s “fun” and “agenda”. Of course, her agenda included Fairytale Brownies.  She even reminded me "Mommy, make sure you bring home some fudge brownies."

The night began when moms dropped off their girls at our house. All of them wanted only one thing to start with; swimming. They all RAN to my daughter’s room, did a quick change, and were in the pool within 5 minutes. You’d never believe how fast a child can change clothes, with proper motivation. They swam for about an hour and a half, then came in to eat dinner…a kids fave: chicken nuggets and mac & cheese.

                   Original                                               Walnut

Birthday SurpriseAfter playing inside and winding down for a little while, they decided on a movie and all of them wanted a dessert. Guess what they picked? Gourmet Brownies! My kiddo had her usual Original, as well as her BFF, and her friend Victoria asked for Walnut. What a surprise to me! They all downed those moist, delicious brownies! Her friend Mya even went as far as to tell Victoria that one bite of these fudgy chocolate brownies is a life changing snack. (Not those exact words, but close enough.) I think I may have made some Belgian chocolate brownie addicts out of my daughter’s best friends. Is that a bad thing? Not really, as long as they don’t eat them for breakfast. (although, in the wisdom of Bill Cosby, they do contain flour and eggs, so it’s possible). And, by the way, HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY, ELIZABETH!

Fighting cancer and eating brownies!

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 by Kari Gayes
For the past couple of years, I have been an American Cancer Society volunteer for the Phoenix DetermiNation program. This program allows people to train for and participate in endurance events like marathons and half-marathons as part of a team that raises funds to help the ACS fight cancer. Since I've been part of the program, we have provided Belgian chocolate Fairytale Brownies for our volunteers at meetings and for our runners and walkers after each race. The fudgy gourmet brownies are always a hit with both groups, especially after finishing a 13.1 or 26.2 mile race. Everyone always says they are the best brownies they've ever had, and it seems that the all-natural ingredients are a great way for our athletes to replenish some of the calories they've spent in a most delicious way!

Celebrate your best friend with Fairytale Brownies

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews

I just found out that yesterday was "Best Friends Day" and I missed it!

Well, my three best friends know that I am ALWAYS late so they won't be surprised if I send my Happy Best Friends Day wishes after the fact.

To Dollie, my best friend from kindergarten, Barb L. aka Bobbie, my best friend from high school and Barb A. aka Fluffy, my best friend from adulthood: We hardly ever see each other but I know that when we get together we'll just continue where we left off!

I'm surprising each of them with some fudgy chocolate brownies from Fairytale Brownies.

There have been many great songs written about friends, but  "You've Got a Friend,"  "With A Little Help From My Friends" and "For Good" (from "Wicked") best describe my relationship with these three women.

Do you have a favorite "friends" song?

Have you talked with your best friends lately? You might want to order brownies online and let them know you're thinking about them.

Thank You Gift Idea

Monday, June 7, 2010 by Hilary Lee
Recently, my husband and I purchased a small piece of Real Estate in the small town of Queen Creek, AZ. Due to the economy, it was an extremely arduous task to complete the entire purchase process. We really "worked" our realtor; she definitely earned her commission on that deal! On document signing day, my husband and I went to the title office to complete the paperwork. We went after I had gotten off of work and I was still "in uniform" (still wearing my Fairytale Brownies logo shirt). The ladies in the office noticed my shirt, and commented that they knew who Fairytale Brownies were and proceeded to harass me because I had not brought any of our Belgian Chocolate Brownies with me!

So, as I do every time somebody asks me for a fudgy chocolate brownie sample, I promised that I would send brownies to their office right away. So to say "Thank You" to our realtor, loan officer, and title company, we sent them each boxes of Fairytale Brownies. Not only are they the best brownies around (hands-down!), they make excellent Thank You Food Gifts. I sent them each a Thank You 8-Sprite Gift Favor which contains 1 Original, Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Pecan, Toffee Crunch, Walnut and White Chocolate Sprites (Sprites are our 1/2 size brownies that measure 1.5" x 3").

I did receive Thank You messages from our gift recipients; they all loved the gourmet brownies. I even had our realtor tell me that she is going to start sending brownies to her clients as Thank You Gifts for her business! For more information, or to order brownies online, visit us at brownies.com

Fairytale Brownies, the perfect gift for Dad on Father's Day!

Friday, June 4, 2010 by Kim Silva

I'm usually not sure what to send my dad for Father's Day, sort of been there done that, so it always leaves me guessing.  No matter what I choose to give him, there are always Fairytale Brownies to accompany whatever I send.  If not, I get the inevitable phone call asking "where are the brownies, did you send me the ones with nuts"?  Other than the fact he thinks Fairytale Brownies are awesome and delicious, I know he is extremely grateful that I have been able to make a long lasting and very rewarding career from doing the "brownie thing".

I recall fondly the day I graduated from Arizona State University, it's one of the few times I've seen my dad with a tear in his eye - a mix of pure joy along with a little apprehension.  As most parents do, he worried about what I would do with my life and whether or not I would be able to survive on my own.  "Selling brownies" he would comment with a puzzled look on his face . . . but after almost 17 years, I'm still doing the "brownie thing" and couldn't be happier!

This year he'll get his box of fudgy chocolate brownies, along with a few other treats to make his day special.  I guess you could say Fairytale Brownies are the gift that has kept on giving as far as my dad is concerned.

Be sure to check out www.brownies.com, we have great gift options for Father's Day that are sure to make a lasting impression with your dad too!

It's that time!!!

Thursday, June 3, 2010 by Tanika Richards

This is the time of year that my husband and I send our boys (ages 11, 9 & 9) off for their summer vacation away from mom and dad. For the third year in a row it's " Off to the grandparents we go". For some that read this they may think, "yeah time away" and for others they think "no, don't send them away". For me, I'm still on the fence. As for my boys, as soon as the school bell rang on the last of school they had suitcases packed and tickets in hand. I guess I know where they stand on the issue. My husband and I will be left with our 2 year old son and a 6 month pregnant me, and yes it is another boy.

This year when travel plans were being made the grandparents made sure they mentioned, hinted, down right requested we send Fairytale Brownies. So with the tearful, hug-gripped goodbye, I handed over a box of fudgy chocolate brownies during the departure. Noticing that other passangers noticed this exchange, once they landed I called to "one" make sure my children had safely arrived, but that the brownies had made it too.

Remembering Our Soldiers with Fairytale Brownies

Thursday, June 3, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein

This past weekend we celebrated Memorial Day (originally called Decoration Day) as our nation’s way of commemorating all of our proud U.S. Soldiers who have given their lives in service to our country. Fairytale Brownies supports our forces deployed worldwide. We send our Belgian chocolate brownies to the troops overseas, and we receive nothing but gratitude and happiness in return.

As a way to help everyone who would like to send brownies on their own, we offer Free Shipping to all APO/FPO addresses! Visit us online at brownies.com.

Soldiers’ Angels and the Ladies of Liberty, both organizations that help to provide the troops with morale boosting snacks and hard-to-find necessities helps us out on a regular basis. They provide us with names and addresses of those service people who are in need of a little taste of home, or a little comfort when things aren’t going as well as they had hoped. We are honored that they have chosen our rich, fudgy brownie gifts as a way of filling that role.

If you’re interested in helping out Soldiers’ Angels/Ladies of Liberty, you can visit their sites at:
www.soldiersangelsladiesofliberty.com (Ladies of Liberty) www.soldiersangels.com (Soldiers’ Angels).  They have many branches nationwide who help soldiers from that particular area of the country. To all the members of the U.S. Military, thank you for all you do everyday.

Fairytale begins raising funds for future local playground

Wednesday, June 2, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews
Fairytale Brownies has begun raising funds to build a local play space next spring with our national nonprofit partner KaBOOM!

KaBOOM! is an organization that helps communities build safe playgrounds within walking distance of every child in America. Fairytale has been a partner with KaBOOM! since 2001 and has helped build many playgrounds across the country. We've always been the helpers, but not the organizers.

During the next 9 months we will have a variety of ways for those who believe in play to donate to our cause. We will have special events, promotions, and fudgy chocolate brownie giveaways - all fun stuff for the sake of play!

Eileen and David met on the kindergarten playground and know how important play is for children's imaginations, health and well being.
Many schools are eliminating recess from their school day, and new schools are being built without playgrounds to save money.

I'm sure there are facts and figures that can be quoted here about the importance of play, but the most convincing evidence I have comes from last week's Fairytale Brownies' summer party.

We had a barbecue at work that included games and prizes. We raced toy cars, played Corn Hole (Bags), scavenged for "Mr. Brownie Guy," exchanged white elephant gifts and squirted each other with water guns. It was so much fun that our team members are still talking about it. We all usually hang out with our individual departments, but the games allowed us to get to know each other better. Now we're scheduling play dates! (Not really, but we are more comfortable talking with one another.)

Here's Tanika (Customer Service) winning one of the plasma car races against Eileen (Sales/PR). It was a close race!

If you would like to donate funds or volunteer for our future build, contact me at aandrews@brownies.com. We'll be happy to have you on our team.
