On Thursday, September 20, 2012 I will be giving a presentation at the directXchange conference sponsored by NEMOA - the National Etailing & Mailing Organization of America. NEMOA offers etailing and catalog companies as well as industry service providers of all sizes an affordable network for sharing ideas and experiences, building relationships, exploring new opportunities, working together and learning about industry trends and issues that affect their businesses. Founded in 1947, NEMOA is one of the nation's largest and most active multichannel merchant associations dedicated exclusively to the direct marketing industry.
The directXchange event is billed as "the leading forum for direct marketers across the country to share, learn and connect." I am honored to have been invited to participate in a conference session entitled "New Tactics, New Ideas...What's Working?" I will be presenting the session allongside my colleague Wade Jones from the Jouneys Group.
Having been in the business of sending gourmet brownie gifts across the country for over 20 years, I've gained first hand knowledge of the challenges and successes of the catalog and direct marketing industry. Over the years we've developed a specialty niche in corporate food gifs as well as personal gift-giving. We've seen the catalog industry evolve online to include many forms of digital marketing, including email, pay-per-click advertising, search engine optimization, and most recently, social marketing. We've had both success and failure with these different types of marketing. During the conference session I'll be presenting a summary of some wins and losses over the years in regards to our marketing efforts. And I might even share a few gourmet cookies and fudgy chocolate brownies too!l
This will be my first time attenting the directXchange conference and I'm looking forward to meeting new friends and colleagues. I'm also excited to learn some new tips and tricks about what's new in the world of etailing and catalogs!
