Fairytale Brownies prepares for the holidays in September

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews

It's September! Sixteen weeks from today is the Wednesday before Christmas. How's that for time flying?

No need to panic though. Fairytale Brownies has everything you need to guarantee your gifts will be well received. New tower gifts, new gourmet cookies, new gift bands, new truffle flavors - the hardest part of purchasing will be deciding who is getting what new gift!

Personally, I like the tower gifts because they include a little bit of everything we bake - brownies, Sprites, Magic Morsels and cookies. I love to reuse my boxes so once the fudge brownies are gone, something else will fill their place.

September is also is the month when our retail store goes back to winter hours. Beginning Tuesday, September 7, we will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Once the holiday season officially begins in December, we will be open Saturdays, but until then we are on a Monday through Friday schedule. Find our address and retail store hours here!

Although most of the country is enjoying some cooler temperatures, Arizona still is experiencing high 90- to 110-degree temperatures. Fairytale Brownies will continue its practice to ship all gifts in an insulated box with cold packs Monday through Wednesday. October soon will arrive with cooler temperatures and our regular Monday - Friday shipping schedule will resume. Getting brownies delivered or cookies delivered is easy!

Hmm. All of this talk about the holidays is making me want some hot chocolate. Who has the marshmallows?

My Fairtyale Cookie Review - By Minda C.

Monday, August 30, 2010 by Customer Brownie Stories
Let's start off first with receiving the white Fairytale box! Friday afternoon after a long work week - what a TREAT! Well done... well done! Every time I've ever received something from you guys in the mail, the apartment complex management is ALWAYS intrigued when they see "Fairytale Brownies" on the box. They get more excited than ME to know what sort of package I've just received!

I got the package inside my place and opened it up to find the very classy brown box and purple wrap. Each cookie is individually wrapped and let's just say if we were reviewing these cookies alone - they'd get a perfect 10. I've been sharing and eating my own share of Fairytale Brownies since 2003, so I knew I was in for a big treat!

The first cookie I tried was the Double Chocolate Cookie, and it was DELECTABLE! It was cooked to perfection. The cookie was moist, not gooey... It didn't fall apart in your hand. It didn't crumble all over you either. It was perfection! It held together while eating it - but yet melted in your mouth. I decided to wait until AFTER dinner to try the Caramel Pecan Cookie - and I must say - I'm typically not a fan of nuts in my cookies or brownies. I don't add them when I make them myself, and most often find myself picking them out of they ARE in a cookie or brownies. But this combo... The caramel and the pecan... You guys have outdone yourselves! There were JUST enough pecans to match the sweet caramel flavor. These cookies tasted as though they had just come out of MY oven! They didn't taste packaged or store bought. They tasted better than any cookie I've ever purchased.

Well done, Fairytale Brownies! You have created another treat that will satisfy any cookie lover! Enjoy the pics!

Another Fairytale Birthday, and a Little Surprise!

Thursday, August 12, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein

This last weekend was an extremely eventful one for me.  Not only were there two birthday parties, but as my friends here know, I was surprised by my husband with a trip to Las Vegas!  A second honeymoon...and my kiddo got to have two day sleepover at Grandma's!  She was excited.

The first party was a nice dinner for Cousin Kaitlyn, who turned 9.  She's extremely excited about being in the 4th grade this year, and loooooves Fairytale Brownies.  Last time I was at her house, I left her a peanut butter brownie to share with her little sister.  This time, I decided that it was time she had her own stash, since she's 9 now.  I brought her a Magic Morsel Dozen in all four flavors to go along with the ZhuZhu pet playset we got her.  She was SOOO pleased!

Her mom was jealous because she loves our fudgy chocolate brownies as much as her daughter does!  Knowing Kaitlyn the way I do, she'll share with everyone, so no problems there!

I brought home another brownie gift for my daughter to take to her second party on Saturday afternoon.  That was for a neighbor/friend of ours whose daughter was turning 11.  Elizabeth was thrilled to take her the best brownies in the world as part of her present.  And I'm sure she was very pleased as well.

As you can tell, I completely advocate the heavy use of Belgian chocolate brownies as great gift ideas, and they work for all ages!  Gourmet brownies = Happiness!

Show your love with gourmet Fairytale Brownies as after-school treat

Tuesday, August 3, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews

We have a back-to-school tradition in my household that began in 1991 when my oldest son started kindergarten. One by one, my children stand by the front door dressed in their new school clothes and smile so I can take a picture of the beginning of a new school year. Some years they smiled and other years they rolled their eyes, but I have those precious photos that chronicle every year of growth.

This year, my youngest son will have his first day of school and I will not be there to record it - the entire family except him will be out of town. I plan to take his picture when I get back, but in my mind, the photo won't be the same.

For those of you who haven't established a first-day-of-school tradition, try this: Serve Fairytale Brownies as an after-school treat! Place the gourmet fudgy brownies on a plate and serve with a cold glass of milk and lots of love!

Every year, one of my Mom friends has served cookies to her children when they come home from their first day of school. Last year, she decided to take the children out for frozen yogurt instead. Although the children love frozen yogurt, they wanted to know where the cookies were. The cookies were just the store-bought variety and not as delicious as a Belgian dark chocolate brownie from Fairytale Brownies, but they were served with "love" and the children knew it.

This year, my friend is serving Fairytale Brownies as her first-day, after-school treat. Her children will know they are loved after just one bite of a chocolaty brownie, and they won't even remember the store-bought cookies from the past.

I just wanted to share some of the great comments and raves that we've had pouring in to our customer service center about our great Fairytale Brownies and our excellent service! Here are some of the best ones from this week:

Fairytale Brownies offers a huge selection of brownie gifts in every price range - the quality is top-notch. My families request for birthdays is that I send birthday brownies! So easy to order brownies online and the shipping is a great value. ~ Stephanie B., TX

Our entire family enjoys the fudge brownies from Fairytale Brownies, and when there is a time for a special treat, we always look to Fairytale. Thank you for such an excellent product! ~ Ruth B., PA

I received Fairytale Brownies recently as a housewarming gift and loved them so much that I'm sending brownies to my Dad for his birthday! ~ Vic J., AZ

Include Fairytale Brownies in your school lunches

Wednesday, July 28, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews
Even though it's the last week of July, in Arizona we are getting ready for our children to return to school. Some area schools are already back in session!

Don't forget to include Fairytale Brownies in those lunch boxes.

Magic Morsels are a perfect bite-sized ending to any brown bag lunch. They are available in Original, Chocolate Chip, Caramel, Walnut and Sugar-free Original flavors.

Need a little larger size option? Try our Sprites - they're 3" x 1.5" and equal to one serving size. Sprites are available in 12 flavors.

Order your gourmet brownies online and they will be shipped to your door. Buy them in bulk without the special packaging and receive an even better price. Just put the spare brownies in the freezer (they'll stay fresh for up to 6 months) and use as needed.

Now that you've got lunches covered, time to focus on back-to-school clothing!

Fairytale Brownies and Professional Wrestling????

Thursday, July 22, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein
Yes, I know, that seems like a very unlikely combination.  But, to be honest, wrestlers like gourmet brownies too, and are more than willing to share with their buddies.

Recently my husband brought a Fairytale Brownie to a wrestling friend of his: "Monster Mayhem".  He really loved the rich, fudgy brownie, and requested more, if we could get them for him.  As a favor to the hubby, I brought home a Sprite Dozen, and did the "Choose your Own" option, as Mr. Mayhem's favorite flavor is Peanut Butter! Well, he loved them so much, he shared with all the wrestlers working that night for EXW (www.elitextremewrestling.com), a local promotion that we support.  All the guys loved those Belgian Chocolate brownies!  Unfortunately, one of the guys who knows my husband very well was not in the "locker room" at the time, so missed out.  We're going to bring Tyson some gourmet brownies at the next show.

One of our personal friends took a few home too, because he and his wife think these are the best brownies they've ever had, and they're a welcome treat occasionally.  My husband Jeff was giving out brownie advice too..."one cream cheese, one peanut butter and a glass of milk."  I think I've made some more addicts!

Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with a brownie sundae

Wednesday, July 14, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews
Today is National Ice Cream Day and what better way to celebrate than with a brownie sundae?

Fudgy chocolate brownies from Fairytale Brownies make the perfect dessert when served alone, but add some ice cream, fruit, nuts, chocolate sauce, and/or whipped cream and you have a beyond perfect divine creation.

Experiment with a variety of gourmet brownie flavors, too. Try a Peanut Butter brownie with peanut butter chocolate ice cream. Or Toffee Crunch brownie with pralines and cream ice cream.

You might feel like exercising after you've eaten this purely decadent dessert, but please wait 30 minutes before doing so. It's Mom's rule, that's why.

Back to our roots - brownies and play!

Thursday, July 8, 2010 by Eileen Spitalny
My partner David and I met on the kindergarten playground and ever since we have played and eaten brownies together! Yes, that playing turned into starting a business together. And since 2001, we have partnered with KaBOOM! to spread the word about their important mission for all kids to have a safe place to play and we have donated dollars and brownies. Next year will be our 10-year anniversary working together and we are rasing funds to build a Phoenix area playground not too far from our bakery. You can read details here on our website - http://www.brownies.com/facts_info/kaboom.aspx

My daughter is helping raise funds for this playground build. She made a jar at home that asks for money for kids in need to build them a playground. We have filled it up once so far and brought it in to the big coin jar in our retail store. Her first haul was $41.78. Now the jar is back at home being filled up again. So if you come over be prepared to part with your spare change and a dollar or two. In return we will offer you a fudgy chocolatey Fairytale Brownie with a cold glass of milk as a sweet reward! There are many ways you can help us with our efforts. If you are interested just post a comment or idea. Thanks for making the world a sweeter place!

Traveling with Brownies

Friday, July 2, 2010 by Ellie Perry
One more week before my vacation! This summer I'm going to New Zealand for three weeks.  And I'm taking Fairytale Brownies along with me.  Throughout the year, I send brownies to friends all around the country and internationally too. This time instead of shipping brownies, I'll be able to hand deliver them with a smile.  But I don't know if I'll be able to resist eating some on the 12 hour plane ride! Having a fudge brownie or two may help the time pass more quickly.

This fall I'll be able to have some of our brand new gourmet cookies delivered.  Until then, gourmet brownies will have to do.  I'll be sure to take lots of pictures of Fairytale Brownies in the land of the Kiwi.  Hey, could that be a new Fairytale flavor?

Summer with Fairytale Brownies

Thursday, July 1, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein
I know most people don’t associate fudgy chocolate brownies with the hot days of summer, but I’m sure there are MANY different ways to use them for cool, delicious desserts or snacks for the whole family! As many of you all know, our rich Belgian chocolate brownies are able to be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Did you know that you can eat them in that solid state? They’re wonderfully dense, almost like a true fudge when they’re cold, and they cool you down marvelously! I'm especially fond of our gourmet Mint Chocolate Brownie, right out of the fridge. As you’ve seen in our catalog, you can also top them with your favorite ice cream as well, and make a rich brownie sundae, perfect for the hot summer weather! If it were me, I’d top it with hot fudge or caramel sauce and a few berries and call it good.

As a side note to that, one of our local fans called late yesterday, and asked for the recipe for the gourmet brownie sundae on the cover of our Summer 2010 catalog (pictured here)...here's the details:

  • Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
  • Chopped fresh strawberries
  • Chocolate chunks (I would use semi-sweet, but go with your preference)

You'll need to melt the ice cream slighly to mix in the items.
After you re-freeze the ice cream, just sandwich a scoop between 2 of our fudgy chocolate brownies, and you'll have a refreshing summer treat!

If any of you readers have come up with any ideas for delicious Fairytale Brownie desserts, please submit them to here ! I’d love to try something new and delicious.  Just a thought to add as well, Wednesday July 7 is "National Chocolate Day"!  I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than with a Fairytale Brownie! Happy 4th everyone!  Be safe.

Brownies and beer make a delicious pair

Wednesday, June 30, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews

Cookies and milk, chips and dip, apple pie and ice cream. Three notoriously delicious pairs. Brownies and beer. Two favorites individually, but not commonly paired as a couple. Arizona Girls Pint Out, Sleepy Dog Brewery and Fairytale Brownies will unite the unlikely couple at a Brownie & Beer Pairing on July 22.

The fund-raising event is still in the planning stages, but the brownies and beer have been sampled and we have created six delicious combinations.

The hosts of the evening are:

Arizona Girls Pint Out: A group of women who love beer. They describe themselves as, "gals into grolsch. Ladies into lagers. Princesses into pilsners. Angels of ale. With a Southwestern twist!" There are 170 fans on their Facebook page.

Sleepy Dog Saloon & Brewery: Owner Rob Sizemore has turned his longtime passion for brewing beer into practice with his understated, modern facility in Tempe. Lime green walls and purple couches invite patrons to sit and sip awhile. Six different brews will be featured in the evening's pairing - Light American Lager, Spring Marzen, Hefeweizen, Irish Red Ale, Scottish Amber Ale and Milk Stout. I tried every one of these beers and I have to say, they all are tasty. I even have three favorites right now.

Fairytale Brownies: Known for our fudgy chocolate brownies, we recognize that our gourmet treats go with just about everything. We will pair a different dark chocolate brownie flavor with each of the beers. Your taste buds will thank you for participating! Mine did. It's interesting to note that my three favorite beers go with my three favorite brownie flavors - Toffee Crunch, Caramel and Walnut. Coincidence?

We are raising funds to build a local playground with our national nonprofit partner KaBOOM! A portion of the $15 entry fee will go towards the build to be held in April 2011.

As more details about the Brownies & Beer Pairing are confirmed - such as the time of the event - we will invite you to join us. The evening should prove to be a great Arizona girls night out.

Cookie Delivery Begins This Fall!

Monday, June 28, 2010 by David Kravetz
Well, after 17 years of creating the best brownie gifts anywhere, we've decided to branch out.  Fairytale Brownies began with just two flavors - walnut and plain.  Since that time we've expanded our line to include 12 flavors in three sizes (Original 3" x 3" Brownies, snack-size 3" x 1.5" Fairytale Sprites, and bite-size 1.5" x 1.5" Magic Morsels).  We've also introduced brownie trays and our most recent creation - Fairytale Truffles (bite-size gourmet brownies completely enrobed in 60% dark belgian chocolate).

After much soul searching we decided it was time to branch out beyond our brownie beginnings.  Customers sending thank you food gifts kept asking for more variety.  So the next logical step was cookies.  But these couldn't be just any cookies - they had to be worth of the Fairytale name. So after months of testing, baking, evaluating and tasting hundreds of cookie experiments, we've created two decadent and delicious cookie flavors:  Caramel Pecan and Double Chocolate.

Fairytale Cookies are made with the same premium, all-natural ingredients that we use in our brownies, including creamery butter and farm-fresh eggs.  So this fall when you're ready to send corporate gifts or ship brownies to a friend, you can feel confident that our new cookies will be as delicious and well received as the brownies you've sent before!

Sleepover with Fairytale Brownies

Thursday, June 10, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein

My daughter recently had her first slumber party! She invited her closest friends from school, and made a “fun-genda”. For all of you without daughters, that’s “fun” and “agenda”. Of course, her agenda included Fairytale Brownies.  She even reminded me "Mommy, make sure you bring home some fudge brownies."

The night began when moms dropped off their girls at our house. All of them wanted only one thing to start with; swimming. They all RAN to my daughter’s room, did a quick change, and were in the pool within 5 minutes. You’d never believe how fast a child can change clothes, with proper motivation. They swam for about an hour and a half, then came in to eat dinner…a kids fave: chicken nuggets and mac & cheese.

                   Original                                               Walnut

Birthday SurpriseAfter playing inside and winding down for a little while, they decided on a movie and all of them wanted a dessert. Guess what they picked? Gourmet Brownies! My kiddo had her usual Original, as well as her BFF, and her friend Victoria asked for Walnut. What a surprise to me! They all downed those moist, delicious brownies! Her friend Mya even went as far as to tell Victoria that one bite of these fudgy chocolate brownies is a life changing snack. (Not those exact words, but close enough.) I think I may have made some Belgian chocolate brownie addicts out of my daughter’s best friends. Is that a bad thing? Not really, as long as they don’t eat them for breakfast. (although, in the wisdom of Bill Cosby, they do contain flour and eggs, so it’s possible). And, by the way, HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY, ELIZABETH!

Thank You Gift Idea

Monday, June 7, 2010 by Hilary Lee
Recently, my husband and I purchased a small piece of Real Estate in the small town of Queen Creek, AZ. Due to the economy, it was an extremely arduous task to complete the entire purchase process. We really "worked" our realtor; she definitely earned her commission on that deal! On document signing day, my husband and I went to the title office to complete the paperwork. We went after I had gotten off of work and I was still "in uniform" (still wearing my Fairytale Brownies logo shirt). The ladies in the office noticed my shirt, and commented that they knew who Fairytale Brownies were and proceeded to harass me because I had not brought any of our Belgian Chocolate Brownies with me!

So, as I do every time somebody asks me for a fudgy chocolate brownie sample, I promised that I would send brownies to their office right away. So to say "Thank You" to our realtor, loan officer, and title company, we sent them each boxes of Fairytale Brownies. Not only are they the best brownies around (hands-down!), they make excellent Thank You Food Gifts. I sent them each a Thank You 8-Sprite Gift Favor which contains 1 Original, Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Pecan, Toffee Crunch, Walnut and White Chocolate Sprites (Sprites are our 1/2 size brownies that measure 1.5" x 3").

I did receive Thank You messages from our gift recipients; they all loved the gourmet brownies. I even had our realtor tell me that she is going to start sending brownies to her clients as Thank You Gifts for her business! For more information, or to order brownies online, visit us at brownies.com

We're having a party!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010 by Kari Gayes
Every month at Fairytale Brownies, we have an end-of-month lunch and staff meeting. Today, we're kicking off summer with a party! Everyone is going to take a little break from baking and shipping the world's best brownies to have a little fun. Our co-founder David is manning the grills, we're having a dessert challenge among the team members, and there will be fun and games for all.

Here's some of what's going on right now at the gourmet brownie bakery to get ready:
The break room getting ready for the dessert challenge. We have high dessert standards, considering we make delicious fudge brownies every day, so it should be yummy!

And outside, we're getting ready for cornhole (or bags, but I'm from the Midwest, and we call it cornhole) and plasma car races:

What's a plasma car, you ask? This! It's going to be hilarious.

Stay tuned for pictures of the actual Fairytale Brownies party, as I'm sure someone will blog about it after.

Fairytale Cookies, Cookies and More Cookies!

Friday, May 21, 2010 by Kim Silva
When you think of decadent gourmet brownies, Fairytale Brownies immediately comes to mind, now you'll be saying the same about cookies!  The deadline is just around the corner and we're baking test batch after test batch to get the new Fairytale Cookie line launched.  The official launch is this coming September, but the recipes need to be finalized for our annual Spring catalog photo shoot in June.

We are planning to introduce four flavors of cookies this Fall:
  • Blondie with chocolate chips & white chocolate chips
  • Blondie with pecans & caramel
  • Dark Chocolate with double chocolate chips
  • Dark Chocolate with white chocolate chips & walnuts

So far, my favorites are turning out to be the Dark Chocolate with double chocolate chips and the Blondie with pecans & caramel, which someone likened to pecan pie - yum!

Our staff has had the arduous task of sampling the cookies, mistakes and all. . . . They just love when we are introducing new products, it's so exciting for everyone at Fairytale Brownies to play a part in the process - especially the tasting process!

Not only will we have our decadent fudge brownies for you to choose from, now we'll have delicious cookies too.  Just add milk (or Fairytale Coffee or Cocoa) and you'll have the perfect gourmet treat!
