Happy Independence Day!

Friday, July 3, 2009 by Hilary Lee
For some of us, the 4th of July is a day to BBQ and watch fireworks with our friends and family. The meaning of the 4th of July gets lost in translation with the frenzy of daily life. I like to be reminded why I am celebrating holidays when they come around - not just for the commercialization of the holiday. I usually Google the holiday and get reminded of the story behind the occasion. Recently I Googled "History of Independence Day" and found a site that tells a great story. It is short, sweet, and to the point. If you have a minute, check it out: http://www.holidays.net/independence/story.htm.

Meanwhile, if you are celebrating with friends and family today, we hope that you have a wonderful holiday spending it with the ones you care about the most. After all, that's why our forefather's fought for our Independence. And if you happen to catch a fireworks show tonight - savor the moment and reflect on the meaning of the day!

Personally, I am taking my son to California to visit my Mom who we
haven't seen in a while. We'll spend the day together then head off to Huntington Beach to watch the fireworks show they put on every year by the ocean. I look forward to spending the holiday with family, and talking to my son about the meaning of the holiday. If you get the chance, tell us how you are celebrating your Independence Day! We'd love to hear from you. ~ Hilary

Don't forget the brownies for your July 4 celebration

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 by Alyssa Andrews

Friends of mine are dropping their son off to the Naval Academy this week. They are proud of his achievement and military goal, even though his mom and sister are a little reluctant to see him go so far away. He, on the other hand, can't wait to begin his new adventure!

As the July 4 holiday approaches, I think about the people who served and continue to serve our country in and out of wars and I thank them for making that choice. My family and I are free to live the way we do because of their efforts. A big FAIRYTALE THANK YOU, Mr. and Ms. Man and Woman in Uniform, for protecting our freedom.

Of course we will be celebrating this freedom with typical American fare - hot dogs, burgers, chips, dips, salads, beverages, etc. But don't forget to serve brownies - Fairytale Brownies' fudgy chocolate brownies. It's not too late to expedite delivery of your gourmet brownies for Saturday's big bash, but if you live in Arizona or Southern California, you don't have to have them shipped. Fairytale Brownies sells individual brownies and 1 lb. brownie trays at all AJ's Fine Foods in Arizona, and 17 of the 18 Gelson's Markets in California. Visit their bakery departments and be sure to buy extras. People will want seconds and thirds of dessert, so it's better to be prepared.

My children (three boys) have requested Chocolate Chip brownies be included in our weekend festivities. They want to top the brownies with cookie dough ice cream, chocolate sauce and a bunch of cherries. They'll skip the whipped cream though. They like to squirt it directly from the can into their mouths. (I'm sort of kidding on this one. I don't allow can/mouth contact, but sometimes it happens when I'm not looking.) And because there are always at least 3 extra boys visiting my house at any given time, I'll bring home extra brownies... Like I said before, it's better to be prepared.

Happy Independence Day!
- Alyssa

Serve wedding brownies instead of cake

Friday, June 19, 2009 by Alyssa Andrews
According to a recent New York Times article, the latest wedding reception trend for the wealthy is to NOT flaunt their wealth. Brides in Los Angeles are opting for back yard receptions instead of fancy hotels. They're skipping the wedding cake and serving their guests cobbler, cookies and cupcakes. They want their guests to feel comfortable.

What says comfort more than a chocolate brownie? Fairytale Brownies fits the bill for both comfort and enchantment. Here are a few ways to impress the wedding guests with Fairytale Brownies as the wedding dessert:

Instead of toasting the bride and groom with tequila shots, use milk for the shot and wash it down with our fudge brownies.

Serve a few Magic Morsels (bite-sized brownies) in a parfait dish and let the guests top them with fruit, whipped cream and/or chocolate sauce.

Serve Magic Morsels with a chocolate fountain.

The bride and groom can customize the label of a Fairytale Brownie with their photo, the wedding date, a special saying... whatever they like. (The brownies could even double as a wedding favor as well as a dessert.)

Call us at 800.FAIRYTALE. We'll be happy to help you plan your next reception!

Not in the mood to celebrate a birthday with cake? How about fudgy chocolate brownies from Fairytale Brownies?

Let us do the work for you. We'll use all natural ingredients including fresh eggs, real butter and imported Callebaut dark Belgian chocolate to create the best brownies you and your friends have ever tasted. You can serve the brownies by themselves, or add ice cream and chocolate or caramel topping for a brownie sundae. You could put ice cream between two brownies for an ice cream sandwich!

I know you're inspired, so call 800.FAIRYTALE or order your birthday brownies on line at www.brownies.com.

Speaking of birthdays, he probably would prefer a REAL box of delicious Fairytale Brownies, but Gene Wilder (also known as Willy Wonka in 1971) will have to settle for birthday WISHES instead. Happy 76th birthday, Mr. Wilder!

The actor has performed in many movies, but I still love "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory." One of my favorite lines from "Wonka" goes something like this - A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

I love NONSENSE. I must be very wise!

Paula Deen's Banana Split Brownie Pizza

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 by Hilary Lee
Ok, so I am an admitted HUGE Paula Deen fan. I watch her show's on the Food Network all of the time. My husband is from Georgia too, so the last time we were in Savannah (last month) we stopped by Paula Deen's restaurant, "The Lady and Sons", and had brunch. She is just so down-home and friendly, I really enjoy watching her on TV. I love her famous saying, "Y'all, I'm not your doctor, I'm just your chef!" In other words, her cooking is more on the comfort food end, but I love it all anyway!

Since we are still talking about brownies here on our Fairytale Brownies blog, I thought that I'd share this AMAZING recipe for Paula Deen's Banana Split Brownie Pizza that I saw her make on one of her more recent shows. I thought this would be such a great recipe to try with our Fairytale Brownies. Since our brownies are all-natural, made with pure premium ingredients, and are DELICIOUS when heated up, I thought this was a perfect match.

Click here for the complete recipe:
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/banana-split-brownie-pizza-recipe/index.html

If you do decide to try this, let us know how it turned out! I plan on making this dessert for my Dad for Father's Day. He has a major sweet tooth and loves our Fairytale Brownies. So this dessert will be the perfect surprise for him. I can't wait to taste it too! ~ Hilary

Brownies and Hugh Jackman: An enticing pair

Tuesday, April 28, 2009 by Alyssa Andrews
When my friend, Kristie, asked if I wanted to go to the world premiere of "Wolverine" with her, I didn't hesitate to say, "yes." Hugh Jackman? Not only is he extremely talented, he's HOT!

Just last week we were talking about Hugh. Fairytale Brownies had scheduled a media event to celebrate our feature on the Food Network's "Unwrapped." It also was the day a press conference was called to announce that Tempe won the contest to view the world premiere of "Wolverine." Basically, the media had to choose between brownies or Hugh Jackman. I suggested combining the two because they both are delectable, but no one listened to me. Let me explain:

Here's a Fairytale Brownies fudgy Chocolate Chip brownie. Notice the bounty of chocolate chips spread throughout the 3" x 3" brownie. Every bite will have an extra chocolaty crunch. Each brownie is made from imported Callebaut Belgian dark chocolate.

And here's Hugh Jackman. Notice the chiseled lines of his handsome face, the partial beard growth, the tan and the MUSCLES outlined by his form-fitting shirt. See what I mean? How does one choose?

Well, we didn't have to after all. Kristie and I not only attended the parking lot media event before the premiere,

we walked the red carpet

and sat four seats away from Hugh (and fellow cast mates) in the theater. Every now and then during the movie we glanced over to look at Hugh. It was a pretty weird experience seeing him in person and on the screen at the same time.

Needless to say, the whole evening was enchanting. I found myself thinking that everyone in the theater should have a Fairytale Brownie to celebrate! Ok, so maybe I don't know when to separate work from fun, but I think my evening showed that brownies and Hugh Jackman are an enticing pair.

Mom let me eat the batter!

Friday, April 24, 2009 by David Kravetz

Before we started selling mail order brownies I really did love them as a kid.  Our recent segment on The Food Network's "Unwrapped" has made me a little nostalgic for the days when my Mom baked my favorite chocolate brownies.  With Mother's Day coming up, now is the perfect time to send brownies to your Mom!  A brownie gift will definitely sweeten her day.

Here's an old photo of me licking the beaters from those fudgy chocolate brownies that I remember so well growing up.  It was 1969 and I was one very happy 3-year-old kid!

Best Brownies!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009 by Hilary Lee
Fairytale Brownies customer service received a great customer comment today that was very endearing. We appreciate so much the stories we hear about how our brownies are received and enjoyed. It especially touches us when we read about having put a little bit of joy into the life of a deployed service member. Please read below:

"I just wanted you to know that I send brownies to my husband who is currently deployed to Afghanistan. He LOVES brownies and I wanted him to have a taste of home for Easter. I've sent him many care packages while he has been gone, but none of them got the rave reviews that Fairytale Brownies did! He shared them of course with the other servicemen but not before getting his fair share. The only thing missing was an ice cold glass of milk. I wish you could have heard his voice  when he called me and said, "Oh man, those were some of the best brownies!" You have made a product that brought a little bit of home to a cherished man far away. Thank You!"
- Michelle D.

Thank you for sharing Michelle. We hope your loved one returns home to you very soon.
