Wow, I can't believe that summer is wrapping up for the kids and that school will be starting on Monday! I know the first day of school is different throughout the United States; some school districts here in Arizona even started school last Monday. Fortunately my son's school, Patterson Elementary in Gilbert starts on the 10th and we have just a few more days of summer to enjoy together.
My son will be starting 5th grade this year and we've been invited to "Meet The Teacher" night on Thursday. This is where we'll go over the curriculum for the school year and get a list of school supplies he'll need. He tested into the Advanced Learning Program this year, so we are so excited to get going on that too! It's also a meet-and-greet of sorts to get to know the teacher. We are both very excited to be starting a new school year. 5th grade, here we come =)
One tradition we always follow is bringing his teachers a thank you food gift (before and after the school year). Of course we bring Fairytale Brownies (yumm) and introduce ourselves. I feel that a thoughtful thank you food gift in advance is a great way to set the tone for the school year.
