Fairytale Brownies and Graduation - What a Combo!

Thursday, June 24, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein
It's that season again...people are graduating from high school, college, graduate programs...what a GREAT time to send brownies to all those deserving people!

Speaking of, my best friend, Carmen Nason of Wichita Falls, TX recently graduated from the RN program after 2 years of hard work and sacrifice, including her husband being deployed from the Air Force Reserves. While she was in school & working a full time job as a CNA, I decided to ship brownies to her family just because she deserved a treat.  She loved them so much, she hid them from the kids!!

Since she recently graduated, and her husband (also one of my best friends) is back home safely, I think it's time to send more of those delicious Belgian chocolate brownies to Texas once again.  It's a small way to tell her how proud I am of her hard work, and how glad I am that her husband Ron made it home safely.

Brownies for Soldiers

Friday, June 18, 2010 by Ellie Perry
This month we shipped packages of brownie gifts to members of the Military.  Soldiers' Angels/Angel Bakers and Soldiers' Angels/Ladies of Liberty provided us with a list of soldiers who need some extra TLC.  We shipped brownies to over 30 servicemen and women.   We received thank you cards this week.  One card reads "Thank you for your thoughfulness by sending the brownies.  Night shift enjoyed them. Thank you again" This card was from SFC Diana.  Another card reads "Many thanks to you and Soldiers' Angels!"

We offer free shipping to APO and FPO addresses.  With July 4th approaching, we'll have many of our Patriotic band gifts on sale.
Thank you Soldiers' Angels for all you do to provide care packages to the troops!

Gourmet Brownies Delivered FREE to APO/FPO Addresses!

Monday, June 14, 2010 by Hilary Lee
Today is June 14th, which in the U.S. is Flag Day. According to the site USflag.org, the 4th of July was traditionally celebrated as "America's Birthday," but the idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885. Then in 1894, the governor of New York directed that June 14th be designated Flag Day and Flags be displayed on all public buildings. Thus, sparked many patriotic programs throughout the US. But it was not until August 3rd, 1949 that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th as National Flag Day.

On days like today, I often reflect on what it means to me and I find myself thinking about our Military servicemen and women stationed around the world. Chest swelling with pride, I'd like to shout from the rooftops that I am proud to be an American, and send a heartfelt "Thank You" to our Military who remind me that freedom is not free.

Though freedom is not free, we can still show our appreciation and support by sending our soldiers care packages full of homemade treats for free. One way that Fairytale Brownies shows our support and appreciation is by offering Free Shipping on any gift that goes to an APO or FPO address year round. This helps our military families who send brownies to their loved ones, or even those who have anonymously adopted a soldier to send a gift of thanks and support.

Remembering Our Soldiers with Fairytale Brownies

Thursday, June 3, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein

This past weekend we celebrated Memorial Day (originally called Decoration Day) as our nation’s way of commemorating all of our proud U.S. Soldiers who have given their lives in service to our country. Fairytale Brownies supports our forces deployed worldwide. We send our Belgian chocolate brownies to the troops overseas, and we receive nothing but gratitude and happiness in return.

As a way to help everyone who would like to send brownies on their own, we offer Free Shipping to all APO/FPO addresses! Visit us online at brownies.com.

Soldiers’ Angels and the Ladies of Liberty, both organizations that help to provide the troops with morale boosting snacks and hard-to-find necessities helps us out on a regular basis. They provide us with names and addresses of those service people who are in need of a little taste of home, or a little comfort when things aren’t going as well as they had hoped. We are honored that they have chosen our rich, fudgy brownie gifts as a way of filling that role.

If you’re interested in helping out Soldiers’ Angels/Ladies of Liberty, you can visit their sites at:
www.soldiersangelsladiesofliberty.com (Ladies of Liberty) www.soldiersangels.com (Soldiers’ Angels).  They have many branches nationwide who help soldiers from that particular area of the country. To all the members of the U.S. Military, thank you for all you do everyday.

Delivery Brownies to US Troops!

Wednesday, May 12, 2010 by Hilary Lee
As we've talked about many times before, Fairytale Brownies is a huge supporter of our Armed Forces. We partner with many different organizations to send brownies to troops stationed all over the world. It's really important to us to send brownies to our troops; we want them to know we haven't forgotten them and we appreciate their sacrifice for our freedom.

A few of our biggest partners are Soldiers Angels, Soldiers Angels, Angel-Bakers, and Soldiers Angles, Ladies of Liberty. Recently, we sent delivery brownies to soldiers in Haiti working on disaster relief efforts (read my Brownies to Haiti blog post).  Our most recent support effort was sending brownies to the Military Appreciation Party that took place on May 11, 2010. We sent about 250 gourmet brownies and sprites to the party for patrons to enjoy. Our ongoing support services include sending Fairytale Sprite 24's to about 10-12 U.S. soldiers each month who need some extra care. It is the very least we can do.

Our partnership with Soldiers Angels is two fold. We send brownies in support of our military personnel, but we also get so much back in return. We get many letters and tokens of thanks from our brownie recipients saying how grateful they are to get a little piece of home. We've received everything from pictures, foreign currency, cavalry patches, and other military memorabilia to an actual U.S. Flag that flew over a U.S. military base in Iraq. These items are priceless to us and we store them in our office on our "Wall of Heroes." Most recently, we received a lovely glass angel statue from Soldiers Angels thanking Fairytale Brownies for our support efforts (see pictures below).

My First Week

Thursday, April 29, 2010 by Melissa Eisenstein

When I was offered the position here at Fairytale Brownies, I jumped for joy! I get the opportunity to work with the wonderful people here at Fairytale, and be able to spread happiness and chocolate love through the wonderful brownie gifts we make here. Of course, I had to share my wonderful news with my family, so I let my daughter, who at 7 is still surprising me, in on the news, only to get “So when do you get to bring us home some brownies?” And, “I want Original and Chocolate Chip!”

She knows that these are the best brownies around! (She has great taste!)  Needless to say, my first day here, I made SURE I bought some decadent gourmet brownies to share. She was VERY pleased. As my first week continued, I had the opportunity to ship brownies to our soldiers overseas in appreciation for their service to our country and send brownies to all the deserving Moms all over the country from their very grateful children.  And, at a discount too, since many of our Mothers' Day items are on sale right now as well!

So, remember Mother's Day is May 9th!  Don't forget to order some delicious gourmet brownies for those special ladies in your life! Have a wonderful week!

With Sincere Gratitude

Hi Fairytale Friends! Fairytale Brownies has been supporting the work of both Soldiers' Angels/Angel Bakers and Soldiers' Angels/Ladies of Liberty for a couple of years now.  We send gourmet brownies to troops serving in our Armed Forces each month. Last month we had an opportunity to send chocolate brownies to a group of men and women serving in Afghanistan as well as a team serving in Haiti.  I can't imagine how very difficult it is to be away from home, away from family and friends.  I hope we can brighten their day just a little.

Over the these past two years we've received wonderful letters and cards from the men and women who have received brownies gifts.  Here are two recent certificates of appreciation we've received.  To all our Troops, we say, be safe!!

Follow Up - Brownies To Haiti

Tuesday, April 6, 2010 by Hilary Lee
Recently we shared a blog post about Fairytale Brownies sending the Connecticut Air National Guard brownies (Air National Guard Blog Post) on their humanitarian rescue mission to the hardest hit part of Haiti after the devastating earthquake a few months ago.

After we sent brownies, we were flooded with emails to our blog from soldiers who received the fudge brownies and how thankful they were to us for sending a piece of home. It literally brought tears to my eyes to think that these men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to keep us safe from harm were thanking us with such sincerity for simply sending brownies. I had to immediately do a self reality check and be extremely thankful for all of the blessings in my life.

I would like to share a bit from an email I received from one of the soldiers who received Fairytale Brownies:

"We just received another box of the best brownies. The AIRFORCE thanks you for thinking of us. I have shared them with so many people, many whom have asked for your website to place orders when they go home (brownies.com). I myself have already sent home 3 thank you packages to people who have sent me care packages from home. The word is spreading and Fairytale Brownies are getting a great reputation with all the US Troops. Many people would like to say thank you, but we have very limited computer access. I thank you on behalf of the 500 troops still stationed here with me.

I was fortunate to visit the New Life Children's Home. It is an orphanage started by an American who has Haitian orphans and children with special needs residing on the compound. I brought donations I received in the mail from the states to the children. I also got to play, hug, and talk with the children. It was a great day Full of hope and love for all who were there.
I got to visit with orphans who have special needs. We sat under the BIG tree that provides shade and hope. The special needs children sit under if for their own special hour during the day. It is a nice change of scenery for them. It is their time under the tree. Most of the day they watch the other children play, but the special needs children don't look sad they have the look of happiness knowing that the other children are having fun. The other children also help with the special needs children. Everyone in this home helps each other, and most of all everyone loves one another.

The beginning of this deployment to a bare base was and still is a lot of hard work. We are doing Search and Recovery/Mortuary Affairs. The work we are doing is hard, but it gives us all a sense of accomplishment knowing that the people we found are going home. Visiting the Orphanage I have a sense of hope. Seeing the children made every hard moment worth wild. The kids made me realize why I serve.
"

and

"I heard my Chief wrote to you and sent you pictures. he is a great man with a big heart. We go to the orphanage as often as we can. It really feels like we are making a difference. There are still 400 of us and more people have requested your great brownies. Thank you for everything."

As a matter of fact Chief (Jerry) did write me and shared some pictures from Haiti and their experiences there. See the awesome photo's below.

On behalf of Fairytale Brownies, we would like to thank the Connecticut Air National Guard, Jerry and Bambi for sharing your incredible stories and these unforgettable photos.

Serving Those Who Serve

Thursday, March 18, 2010 by Ellie Perry
What better way to thank the brave men and women who serve and protect us then by sending gourmet brownies!
We are supporting a group of North Dakota National Guard soldiers who have been deployed to assist in those areas of North Dakota that face devastating flooding.  We're sending care packages of fudge brownies.
Stay safe, and enjoy the Fairytale Brownies!

We're all a bit of Irish on St. Patrick's Day

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 by Alyssa Andrews
I just took a quiz to see how Irish I am and discovered that I'm 40% shy of being named Patricia O'Grady. Actually, I'm 100% Italian (I was born a Fiaschetti), but on St. Patrick's Day, I'm as Irish as the next person.

Maybe I was just confused because I work at a brownie bakery and I'm used to the "brownie guy" performing his good deeds at night... Maybe I love our gourmet brownies so much that I incorporate them into unrelated topics.

Here are the questions I missed on the Irish quiz:

1. Leprechauns are traditionally known for what?

A. Dancing
B. Baking delicious fudge brownies
C. Shoemaking

Although the correct answer is "C", I've never seen a leprechaun making shoes. He's usually running away from someone trying to steal his gold or taste his brownie batter before its baked.

2. St. Patrick was kidnapped by whom?

A. Soldiers
B. Pirates
C. Priests

The correct answer is B. Who knew? I bet the pirates heard St. Patrick was friends with the "brownie guy" and they wanted to ransom him for a treasure chest full of Magic Morsels.

3. Traditionally, who would not wear green on St. Patrick's Day?

A. Children
B. The Fairytale Brownies' team.
C. Women

The correct answer is A, but according to one source, no one likes to wear green in Ireland because it's considered an unlucky color. The Fairytale Brownies' team won't be wearing green either. It's not a part of our approved color pallet.

4. The first offical St. Patrick's Day parade took place in what city?

A. Chicagoland
B. Downtown Phoenix
C. New York
D. Fairytaleland

The correct answer is C, but I think if Fairytaleland existed in 1762, the parade would have been held here.

That's all the blarney I have for today. Have a Fairytale St. Patrick's Day next week!

Brownies - Claudia's 101 in 1001

Monday, February 8, 2010 by Customer Brownie Stories
I found out about Fairytale Brownies through a military-themed website, Soldier's Angels. I've been wanting some for awhile, so when the opportunity presented itself (this was a reward of sorts for ot spending lots of money on something else :P) I shose some to try out. I ended up getting the box of 8-Sprites in Original, Chocolate Chip and Walnut for myself, and Original, Caramel, and Mint for Eric. He has three and I have 5 shhh! So far I've just had the Original and never had I had a more fluffy brownie. Isn't the packaging just beauriful? :) Not sure if you can red the card, but it says that the brownies are guaranteed fresh on arrival and they can last up to 30 days in the refrigerator and 6 months in the freezer. Um, not, they won't be there that long!

A friend for life...

Thursday, December 10, 2009 by Brandie Davenport
I have blogged about my friends, The Albrecht family before but this blog is very special to me. It all started with a box of brownies. I heard about Kevin and his family from an email that come into our service line here at Fairytale Brownies. I sent him brownies several times while he was deployed overseas and sent brownies to his wife Nadine and their three boys. I never in a million years thought that such a deep friendship would be formed from such a simple gesture. Kevin is now back safely enjoying the holidays with his family. Kevin and Nadine are stationed in Missouri and I keep in touch with them via facebook. A few days ago I got a surprise in the mail. Below is a picture of what the Albrecht Squad sent me. I have never been so touched by a gift before. When I opened it I really didn't know how to react. The card had the sweetest things anyone has ever said to me in it. They are truly amazing people and I am so happy that a soldier care package has made me a part of their lives. I will wear this Army hat and shirt with more pride than I will ever be able to express. HOOAH!

Hey just wanted to say thank you for the delicious brownies! My name is SSG John Warner and I am currently deployed in support of operation Iraqi Freedom with the 82nd Airborne Division. I got a package here from you guys today via my beautiful wife Abby and these things are truly amazing! Hands down the best brownies I have ever had. They have quickly become a huge hit here with all of my soldiers. In fact, I had to hide the rest of them in a friends room so that I did not eat the entire box in one sitting. Please send more!

Mulching, munching brownies: We had a Fairytale Day!

Thursday, November 12, 2009 by Alyssa Andrews

As I write this, I can feel wood chips in my sneakers, dust on my skin and shoulder muscles that I didn't know I had. But I have a smile on my face because I know - MULCHERS ROCK!

Anyone who has ever experienced a KaBOOM! playground build will understand what I'm saying and will agree. For those of you who've never participated in a build, the procedure goes something like this: You start off with a few holes in the ground and a bazillion yards of wood chips (mulch). The goal of the mulch team is to spread every inch of those chips onto the playground while other teams are building and cementing the play structure in place.

Eileen and I were part of the mulching team today as KaBOOM! and 113 other volunteers helped build a play space for The Salvation Army in Tempe, AZ. We began the day with a few words from reps from KaBOOM!, The Salvation Army and the funding sponsor, Mutual of Omaha. Then we stretched a little to warm up our muscles. Then we divided into work groups. The lady in the photo at left was the team leader of the Acorns. I don't know what their job was. Eileen and I were Paws... the MULCHERS!
Here are some of the Paws team carrying mulch from the huge pile to the play space.

All of this work helped us burn a few calories and as lunchtime approached, we were mighty hungry.

And what do you think was served for dessert?

Fudgy Fairytale Brownies! Walnut was the flavor of the day.

After lunch, most of the hard work was finished.

Notice the mulch pile by the wall has disappeared? I told you MULCHERS ROCK!

Actually, everyone that helped did an awesome job.

This group built a couple of kids' picnic tables. Pretty good for never putting one together before!

Remember when you were a kid and you spent the day playing outside? You came home exhausted, filthy dirty and oh so happy.

Helping build a play space gives you the same results!

The next time you drive down Hardy between Broadway and University, glance East and you will see a gorgeous play space built by the local community.

Some of you can even say, "And I helped!"

With Sincere Gratitude and Thanks

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 by Hilary Lee
Today is Veteran's Day and on behalf of Fairytale Brownies, I wanted to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to all of the brave Men and Women who have served and are currently serving in our Armed Forces. Here at Fairytale Brownies we have deep respect and gratitude for our Armed Forces...not just today, but everyday. We have a year-round ongoing sponsorship with Soldiers Angels, a volunteer-led non-profit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the US Army, marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families. Monthly, we write letters and send care packages to deployed soldiers around the world thanking them for their service. We also ship to APO/FPO addresses for free year round. Here is a peak at our soldiers board we've named appropriately "Our Heroe's" which is prominently displayed in our main hallway. Most of these pictures were sent to us from solidiers who received our care packages. We've developed a life-long friendship with most of them and their families. They even send us currency and other cool things from where they may be stationed.

A special shout out goes to our own Baking Team Leader, Santiago A., who served in the US Army for many years! Santiago's children also serve in the military as well.

In honor of our troops and their families, Fairytale Brownies is having a special promotion just for them.

If you call our in-House customer service line at 1.800.531.5209 to place any order and you have a military person you want to send an item to, we will send them a Patriotic Sprite 24 gift (a retail value of $43.90) totally free of charge. Remember, please call our in-house customer service line at 1.800.531.5209 to speak to one of our in-house customer service representatives (we have an overflow call center located in Florida, and these representatives will not be able to send the free gift). We will extend this offer to Friday November 13, 2009.

It's just another small way for us to say thank you to our soldiers and their families for their sacrifices.

Bring your... Rikki to work day!

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 by Brandie Davenport
Last week our Corporate Sales Assistant, Kristie (who also happens to be my sister) was told by my nephew Joe that she needed to bring his stuffed animal who he calls Rikki to work with her. Rikki is actually an otter but my nephew is convinced that he is a mongoose like on the old cartoon Rikki Tikki Tavi. I know this is very silly but I wanted to share some of the adventures that Rikki went on at the Fairytale Bakery!

Rikki started off his morning by helping to greet customers in the retail store. While he was in the retail store he took a little break to look through the viewing window to see the bakers baking our delicious gourmet brownies. For a little while Rikki went missing but we found him cozied up with all the blondie bunnies!

Rikki then made his way to the warehouse to help our shipping team ship brownies. Rikki packed his very own Christmas food gift! Rikki wanted to know what it was like to be real tall so he got to sit in one of the bins. Then it was time to head upstairs.

First Rikki helped make some copies. Then he helped customer service by taking a couple of phone orders. He also helped do some marketing research. He liked sitting on Alyssa's ball!

Next it was time for a meeting. Erin, me and Kari needed some of Rikki's input on a project we were working on.

Rikki went and helped accounting for a little while. Well, he wasn't much help when he found this cool toy they have down there. Then he stopped to salute "Our Soldiers". Finally Rikki's day was coming to an end. He had a very busy day so he finished it off by sitting in one of our massage chairs in our quiet room.

Thank you Rikki for all your help in making the world a sweeter place, one Fairytale Brownie at a time!

Making the soldiers smile

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 by Brandie Davenport
We got a couple of new really nice letters from some of our favorite Fairytale fans, our soldiers!

The first one is from Joseph W. of the 659th Maintenance Company.  Here is a little bit of what Joseph had to say...
You guys are sincerely awesome.  My Soldiers get so excited when they see the labeling on the box.  You guys have made a lot of my soldiers smile over here and I owe you a debt of gratitude for your thoughtfulness and dedication to the soldiers. I just cannot explain in words how grateful me and my soldiers feel for your support.  Maybe one day we all can live peacefully and in great harmony.   We will not forget the Fairytale Brownie people of the world, who never forget us.

Here is another letter from Spc Karen B. who is stationed in Sierra Vista AZ...
Thank you so much for the amazing brownies.  They lasted about five minutes.  I think people could smell them through the wrapper.  Thank you for your support.

The third letter was a very cool postcard from Tom S. who is in the 1st Cavalry Division...
Those were the best brownies ever.  Everyone loved them.  Thank you for all of your support.  We of course miss our families but are proud and happy we have the opportunity to protect folks like you all.

Thank you to Joseph, Karen, Tom and the men and women serving in our military.  We truly appreciate the sacrifices you are making to help keep us safe.  With honor and respect all of us at Fairytale Brownies salute you!

Fairytale Brownies Fans Speak Up!

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 by Hilary Lee
I am always amazed at the WONDERFUL comments that our customers send us! It makes me happy to come to work every day. They are thanking us - but really, we thank you!!!

"Just wanted to say that these are the best brownies I have ever had!!! I am a soldier stationed in Iraq and received a couple of these brownies out of a box sent to someone else. OMG! I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I have since ordered them and sent them as a gift and the response was the same, they could not believe they were that good. I had never heard of Fairytale Brownies until I sampled one that day. Just wanted to let you know that your brownies made being here in Iraq a little more bearable. Thank you for making my heart smile and my stomach do the happy dance! I will definitely be ordering again and again! - Michelle S."

"Through the years I've sent your brownies to friends, family, and business associates as Thank You Food Gifts. I always got rave reviews about how delicious the brownies were. Most recently, I sent a box to my dogs vet as a Thank you and was asked to complete the survey when I completed my order. In the survey, I mentioned that I'd never tasted the brownies. Well to my pleasant surprise, I received a variety box of your Fairytale Brownies last week from Ellie and your company. I was in tears because of your kindness. it's the little things such as this that will keep me coming back. This is outstanding customer service at it's best! I can't thank you enough for the extra 3 lbs. I've gained indulging in those amazing brownies, LOL! My sincerest thanks. - Jennifer P."

We have a winner!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 by Alyssa Andrews

It looks like there will be plenty of celebrating this weekend in honor of the 4Th of July. Thank you for sharing with Fairytale Brownies how you will be spending your holiday.

Instead of choosing one winner, we chose two: Lucy Roberts and Nancy Wells. Each will receive a Patriotic Morsel 24 brownie gift.

Lucy wrote: First, we will put out Old Glory and place flags around the yard. I'll begin preparing an old-fashioned BBQ, with homemade lemonade, Mom's potato salad recipe, hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon and some wonderful brownies from Fairytale Brownies (since it is too hot to turn on the oven). We will have some ice cream sundaes as we walk to the park to watch the fireworks show with all of our neighbors and give thanks for our freedom.

Including Fairytale Brownies at your party, Lucy, is a great idea. We approve!

Nancy wrote: Actually, I am planning to scatter my son's ashes. He was a Navy guy who died last year. I'll be someplace by Lake Michigan camping in a beautiful wooded area, with a few family members and friends.

What an appropriate weekend to celebrate your Navy son's life, Nancy.

Again, thank you to those who participated in our contest. We love hearing from you.

Have a Fairytale Fourth!
