Cookie deliveries for the troops on Valentine’s Day

The weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day are busy at Fairytale Brownies as we hand pack and ship brownie and cookie deliveries for sweethearts around the country and globe. gift basket for valentines day

Well, we’re not the only ones working hard to deliver the goods on Valentine’s Day.

This year, we offer a special salute to Bomber Girls LRC of Savannah, Georgia. The Bomber Girls spend the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day collecting home-baked cookies to create delicious gift baskets for our troops serving overseas.

The group’s creative call to arms is: “Fire up your ovens to send the troops some Lovin'.”

The tradition started six years ago with 300 dozen cookies finding their ways into the hands and stomachs of men and women serving our country overseas. By 2012, the number of cookie deliveries had skyrocketed to 6,000 dozen!

Baking that many cookies requires a nationwide effort! Debbie Will of Porter County in northwest Indiana contributed dozens of chocolate chip cookies, plus a 2-pound bag of large dog treats,...

Cookie baskets for the obsessed Cookie Clicker in your life

When we see cookies and obsession in the same sentence, we think the writer is talking about our cookie baskets. In one recent article, however, the author wasn’t even talking about real cookies.

Brian Crecente recently wrote about the “obsessive, increasingly large fan following” for the game Cookie Clicker on the gaming website Polygon. Here’s his brief overview of Cookie Clicker.

“Players have to click on a cookie to produce a cookie. Those cookies can, in turn, be used to increase cookie production through the purchase of virtual grandmas, farms, time machines and the like. There is no goal in the game beyond producing cookies at an ever increasing rate. My game, for instance, currently produces a smidge more than 28 billion cookies a second.” (You can read his full story here.)

Now, we understand a cookie obsession. But 28 billion cookies per second? Yikes!

Besides, those cookies aren’t even real! You may be better off with our Cookie Extravaganza which includes 72 cookies in your...

Brownie gifts and cookie baskets with toffee

If you didn’t get enough sweets during the holidays, you’re in luck! That’s because January 8 is National Toffee Day and, believe us, we’ve got your toffee cravings covered. We deliver brownie gifts and cookie baskets with toffee taking center stage.

We’ll tell you more about our toffee desserts in a bit. First, here are a few facts about toffee, courtesy of Wikipedia.

  • Toffee is made by caramelizing sugar or molasses along with butter and (sometimes) flour. The mixture is heated until its temperature exceeds 300 degrees!
  • The Oxford English Dictionary traces the word “toffee” as far back as 1825. Apparently, it was used first as a variation of taffy. Makes sense to us!
  • The two most popular toffees in the U.S. are honeycomb toffee and English toffee. Interestingly, our English toffee is far different from the toffee enjoyed in England itself.

The entrepreneurial dream behind our brownie gifts

order brownies from a small businessFairytale Brownies began like many businesses do. Before we were shipping brownie gifts and cookie baskets around the globe, we were just an entrepreneurial dream.

In our case, childhood friends David Kravetz and Eileen Spitalny launched Fairytale Brownies in the fall of 1992. They baked late at night in a friend’s catering kitchen. With the support of family, friends, and a secret family recipe, they built the successful business that Fairytale Brownies is today.

Our success took hard work, perseverance, and at least a little bit of luck.

That’s why we were struck by the story of Valorie Mitts of Oak Park, Ill. In 2008, Valerie was forced to close the Lil’ Red Wagon Coffee House.

Fortunately, Valerie refused to give up her dream.

According to the Forest Park Patch, she reopened the Lil’ Red Wagon Coffee House in April of this year and business is booming. The coffee shop sells sandwiches, wraps, soups, and muffins, but the focus is on Valerie’s unique cookie creations. She’s...

espresso nib brownieWe think Amber Killmon would love our Espresso Nib Brownies delivered to her home. At least we hope so. After all, the stay-at-home mom from Chincoteague, Va., seems to have great taste in brownies.

Amber recently won the top prize in the desserts category of the Everything Tastes Better with Coffee recipe contest. Her winnings included $250 and a coffee plant.

Amber called her winning entry Triple Chocolate Espresso Cheesecake Swirl Brownie Bites. Here’s how she described her winning recipe, “These Triple Chocolate Espresso Cheesecake Brownie Bites combine everything I love: Chocolate (times 3), Espresso, Cheesecakes and Brownies. It’s the quartet of kitchen sins, and you don’t want to be without them – ever.”

Yum!

You can see the recipe on Amber’s blog on Parent Palace.

At Fairytale Brownies, we have our own coffee-and-cocoa concoction. Our Espresso Nib Brownies are filled with rich espresso flavor and sprinkled with crushed cocoa nibs.
