Cookie dough is all the rage these days. The Roasting Plant coffee shop in downtown Detroit has hopped on the bandwagon with gourmet cookie dough shots.
As described in an article in the Detroit Free Press, “The uncooked dough balls, studded with chunks of dark chocolate, are sold in shot-glass-sized plastic cups in a cooler in front of the shop's cash registers.”
Small shots, the equivalent of half a cookie, are $1.49. Large shots, equal to a whole cookie, cost $2.49.
As we posted earlier this year, the USDA warned consumers on Twitter: “Don’t eat the raw dough! It contains uncooked eggs that may contain Salmonella bacteria.” But don’t worry about these cookie dough shots being a threat to your health.
Shop manager Kristen Wing has taken this into consideration, as she explained to the Detroit Free Press. “The cookie dough is the same as the cookies, except it's made with pasteurized eggs so it won't make you sick,” Wing said.
