A Twenty Year Fairytale with Fairytale Brownies!

I never thought I'd still be here, but twenty years later here I am still working at Fairytale Brownies, and what a Fairytale it's been!

This "Fairytale Journey" (as I call it) began when I answered a want ad in the Arizona State University school paper.  At the time I was hired to sell our delicious gourmet Belgian chocolate brownies at street fairs, festivals and farmer's markets across the Valley.  I also helped out wherever I was needed - in a small entrepreneurial start-up, everyone does everything.  Some days that meant cracking eggs to help Mike (Eileen's husband and our first baker) and Ron (neighborhood friend, baker, band member) in the kitchen, delivering brownies to grocery stores, working our tiny retail shop, taking orders over the phone. . . the list goes on and on!  As the word got out and we attended more events, people began asking if we would ship Fairytale Brownies to family and friends, so we did, and that's how the mail order aspect of the business came to be.  Now...

Brownies Delivered - Worldwide!

We love to hear our customers' feedback after they've eaten or shared a Fairytale fudge brownie, chewy cookie or buttery bar. This message came from Megan S.:

brownies delivered"My mom sent a big box of brownies for me to share with my office at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. We work such long hours that we really need a boost from time to time, and getting mail is the most exciting part of our day (good excitment- there is plenty of bad excitment). We were all SO happy to get these brownies! People can't stop talking about how wonderful they are, and its been very distracting... one of our paralegals threatened to fall asleep at his desk since he ate three in a row and was full and happy and wanted a nap. Thanks for the great brownies, and thanks for making the extra effort to ship them all the way to Afghanistan."

Soon after I asked her if we could print her comment, she replied with another one:

"People keep coming to my desk today to ask me if I have more. (I only have a few left out of my big box, so I...

Send Brownies to help "burn the midnight oil"

The summer months are huge for me as that's when I am tasked with planning and completing improvements to the brownies.com website. Starting in September, website traffic significantly increases because that's when our new Fall/Holiday catalogs drop in-home (if you're not on our mailing list, join here), and our new gift packaging and brownie/bar/cookie flavors become available. The new things happening this year are: New Fairytale Bar flavors: Lemon Blondie and Cinnamon Crumb, New Sparkling Towers, New Fairytale Towers, New Wish Box, New Celebrate The Season Band, and New Happy New Year Band. Click here for more info on our new products.

Aside of the new gifts becoming available, the marketing department brainstorms what kind of improvements we'd like to have for the website, and I have the summer months to manage those programming projects. Depending on the size of the project, I have several people that I work hand-in-hand with to get large functionality changes complete. I work...

Fairytale Brownies offers tours for corporate customers

order brownies, gourmet brownies

Most people ordering corporate or business gifts online never realize all the TLC and Fairytale magic put into those custom food gifts. For our corporate customers interested in getting to know us better, we open our doors and roll out the purple carpet for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Fairytale Bakery.

The most recent VIP tour was given to the great people at Chicago Title in Chandler, Ariz. They watched firsthand as our fudge brownies, gourmet cookies and buttery bars were being baked, hand packed in our custom-designed packaging and shipped.

As a finale for our tours, we share our Custom Fairytale Gift line with the touring company. In this instance, Chicago Title experienced what their clients or employees will feel when receiving mail order brownies from them. We can print any color logo or photo directly onto a favor box or keepsake tin, onto a gift band for our classic boxes or onto a tower gift tag.

If your company is interested in buying brownie gifts from Fairytale Brownies...

3 Ways to Celebrate Easter with Gourmet Brownies

magic morsel easter eggsI can't believe t's almost Easter already (the first of two in my house - my husband is Greek, so in a few more weeks we'll celebrate Greek Easter, too)! I have to admit, Easter was always one of my favorite holidays as a kid. I loved hunting for eggs, LOVED marshmallow Peeps (still do), and I've always loved the idea of new beginnings. I also loved spring in the Midwest, as the ground thawed and little signs of new life and budding plants were everywhere. I don't get that part in Phoenix this time of year (it's already 90 degrees), but I do still have that sense of new beginnings. And an urge to declutter! But I digress.

One thing I have grown to love in the nearly seven years I've worked here at Fairytale Brownies is finding ways to incorporate our fudgy chocolate brownies into our Easter celebrations. Here are three ways to celebrate Easter with our gourmet brownies:

  • Purchase mail order brownies to share with family and friends who join you for your Easter festivities. We have a wide...

Creating Fairytale Brownies recipe video was a tasty experience

Fairytale Brownies Browned Butter Cinnamon Cream Cheese FrostingWith each of our Spring/Summer catalog drops this year, the cover features a simple, yet delicious DIY recipe to enhance our gourmet Fairytale brownies, cookies and bars. Here is our Spring cover photo featuring the latest recipe, Fairytale Browned Butter Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting. David and I had a lot of fun making our latest recipe video -- This recipe is super yummy and only uses five ingredients.

I frosted fudge chocolate brownies and made sandwich cookies using several of our gourmet cookie flavors. Of course, we all sampled the creations when we were done, and my daughter took a few wrapped up to share with friends that day at the park.

If you would like to receive our Fairytale Brownies catalog, click here to get on the mailing list. For those with smart phones, we provide a QR code on page 2 of the catalog for quick reference to the recipe and video!

Drop your business card into the Fairytale fish bowl for a chance to win a dozen gourmet brownies

Chances are, if you've ever been inside our store at the Fairytale Brownies bakery, you've dropped a business card into our fish bowl for a chance to win a Fairytale Dozen. This month, your chances of winning are pretty good because there are only SIX entries in the bowl!

The sign says that those who put their card into the bowl not only will be entered in the monthly drawing, but they will be added to our mailing list for catalogs and email specials. This doesn't mean that you only can enter once. Each time you come into the bakery, you are allowed to drop a card in the bowl. Of course, we only put your name on our mailing list one time, so don't worry about receiving a zillion catalogs or emails if you enter more than once.

When you win, we will notify you via phone or email to schedule a pick up. If you are visiting from another state (not Arizona), we will ship the fudgy chocolate brownies to you.

While visiting the bakery, you might want to watch the bakers through our viewing...

Send brownies or send cookies on Peanut Butter Lover’s Day

Peanut butter cookie giftDid you know that March 1 is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day?

At Fairytale Brownies, we love peanut butter too! That’s why we’ve included peanut butter varieties of our mail order brownie and cookie gifts.

While you ponder whether you would send brownies or send cookies to the peanut butter lover in your life, here are some fun facts about peanut butter:

  • The average American child will eat 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandhiches before graduating from high school.
  • Arms race! Although peanuts are native to Central America, the United States and China are the leading exporters of the yummy spread.
  • Ernest Hemingway added thick onion slices to his peanut butter sandwiches. Elvis Presley enjoyed sandwiches made with peanut butter, banana and bacon.
  • Peanut butter is helping to fight malnutrition in famine-stricken areas. Plumpy’nut contains 500 calories, doesn’t require refrigeration, and is ready to eat out of the package!
  • Got gum in your hair? Leave the scissors in the drawer! Peanut butter...

Order brownies and savor these three chocolaty flicks

We love Oscar season at Fairytale Brownies. We love the glitz. We love the glamour. We love the fudgy chocolate brownies.

That’s right. We’re not opposed to sneaking out of the office with a few of our cookie gifts or fudge brownies packed away for Oscar night.

In the spirit of Oscar season, here are three of our favorite films featuring chocolate. None won Oscars, but each is fabulous.

  • Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Yes, we’re talking about the original 1971 version. A young boy wins the opportunity of a lifetime – a tour of the candy factory owned by the eccentric Willy Wonka.
  • Like Water for Chocolate. A young Mexican woman learns that her cooking has a magical impact on those around her. We hear her fudgy chocolate brownies were to die for!
  • Chocolat. Although we preferred Gene Wilder’s Wonka, Johnny Depp earns a spot in our list for teaming with a mysterious woman to host a chocolate festival in a charming French town.

If you’re hosting an Oscar party this Sunday, we can...
