Fairytale Brownies Review - The Best Brownies!

Sometimes Fairytale Brownies gets requests from fellow bloggers to review our products for a giveaway. We received such as request from Melissa, the author of the "Frugal Creativity" blog recently. She wrote such an awesome review our of gourmet chocolate gifts that I wanted to share her review! The is also information on how to win a Fairytale Dozen in her post!

"The bakers at Fairytale Browniesbake the way I do: they use real ingredients like butter and eggs, and they bake every batch by hand. They also use Callebaut Belgian chocolate, which is delicious all by itself!

Fairytale Brownies sent me a Fairytale Dozen, which includes one of each flavor they make. As I read the list, I couldn't decide which flavor to try first. Peanut butter? Caramel? They all sounded so good!

When the brownies arrived, the first thing I noticed was how well they were packaged. The brownies were well-protected with packing material and a (reusable) gel pack to keep them cool. Inside the protective packaging was this box:

Looks pretty, doesn't it? Inside the tissue paper are the brownies, each one individually wrapped in cellophane. Somehow, I managed to wait until my whole family was home so that we could all try all the flavors!

Then my family had to wait while I took a picture of the Walnut and Chocolate Mint brownies:

Finally we tasted them. Some of you may remember that my family has an ongoing debate about whether the best brownies are cakelike or fudgy. Since everyone seems to have a preference, you should know that Fairytale Brownies are fudgy, dense, and moist. This is just the way I like brownies!

Our favorite flavor was the Original. It's very fudgy, with a surface texture that reminded me of home-baked brownies. The Belgian chocolate gives it a smooth chocolate flavor. If you've compared European chocolate to American chocolate, you know that European chocolate tends to be creamier and less sweet than American chocolate. This brownie reflects that.

More observations:
  • The nut varieties--Walnut and Pecan--are topped with large pieces of nuts. We noticed that the walnuts were not at all bitter, as they sometimes are.
  • Fans of white chocolate will appreciate the White Chocolate brownie, which is studded with white chocolate chips and drizzled with more white chocolate.
  • The Peanut Butter brownie has a mild peanut butter flavor, smooth and not at all overwhelming.
  • I liked the Caramel, which has a layer of soft caramel sandwiched between two layers of brownie. It was too sweet for my husband's taste, though.
  • The only flavor that we didn't care for was Espresso Nib. As a coffee lover, I expected to like it. I liked the flavor, but the crunchiness of the crushed cocoa nibs was not for me.
Fairytale Brownies are available in three sizes:
  • Fairytale Brownies are 3" x 3" and available in 12 flavors
  • Fairytale Sprites are 3" x 1.5" and available in 12 flavors
  • Magic Morsels are 1.5" x 1.5" and available in 4 flavors plus Sugar-Free Original

Fairytale Brownies also offers Fairytale Truffles, which are Magic Morsels coated in dark Belgian chocolate. My mouth waters when I imagine the caramel brownie enrobed in dark chocolate!
