Go mobile! Now order brownies from the comfort of your mobile device

I've written about this topic a few times, mobile commerce is a huge part of everyday life for people today. For me, it is a HUGE part of my life . . . I check my email, get coupons for groceries, interact on social networks, shop on Amazon (yes, I said it!), do my banking and pay credit cards, and a multitude of other things all on my phone. So as the percentage of people who own smartphones is at an all-time high, and use them for much more than making phone calls and texting, it made sense for us as a business to create a mobile optimized experience. Part of our mission statement at Fairytale Brownies has always been, "We simplify gift-giving", so naturally we had to make gift-giving easy for our customers who are plugged in. With a clear understanding of our strategy, I was tasked with creating a mobile optimized experience for our tablet customers as well as our mobile customers.

This was a massive project that I've literally been working on since early last year. We've gone...

Generous Customers Support KaBOOM! at Fairytale Open House

fudge browniesFairytale Brownies was prepared with plenty of $1 rejects for customers to purchase at last week's Open House, and our customers didn't disappoint. Generous "promoters of play" donated $2,000 to the national nonprofit KaBOOM! in just three hours!

Fairytale Brownies and KaBOOM! have been play partners since 2001. Since that time, we have contributed more than $100,000, along with brownies, cookies and countless volunteer hours working toward building safe places for children to play within walking distance of every child in America.

Fairytale Brownies customers help us promote play by donating funds at the end of their online purchases. We match ever dollar donated, up to $5,000 at the end of the year. Visit here to learn more about giving the gift of play.

A big thank you to all though who came by to purchase rejects, sample product and say hello to the Fairytale crew. It was so nice to chat with all of you!

"You are the BEST! Our families have been buying brownie gifts from you forever. I'm from Mesa, and have been traveling to Oklahoma to take care of my Mom the past few years, so we have been ordering and sending your wonderful brownies there. My Mom has health care workers, a house cleaner, and handy-man come to help as there is too much for me to do! They usually leave with one of your wonderful brownies and a big smile on their face. They all tell...

Brownie grooms-cake and precious memories!

Last week I shared a great comment sent to us from an excited customer who's daughter used Fairytale Brownies as custom wedding favors. The favors were a smashing success! This week we received another, very touching, comment about more wedding brownies. It's stories like the one's below that make doing what we do worth every minute. Spreading joy and making memories . . . that's what it's all about!

"Just wanted to send in this quick RAVE! My daughter ordered brownies to use as the basis for her husbands grooms-cake last week at her wedding. I remembered how amazing your brownies were from a few years back when my closest friend received some for a gift. They were so good that she and I hid them in the freezer in her garage so we wouldn't have to share them with anyone else. When we sat down to watch an old movie, we would take two out of the freezer. My friend has since passed on, but for many reasons she was with us at the wedding including watching us eat those wonderful brownies....

Banned from Elyria’s cookie craze? Order cookies by mail from us

chocolate cookies by mailOhio’s Elyria City School District recently found itself in hot water with the federal government. The district’s popular pink cookies – loaded with butter, sugar, vegetable shortening, and sour cream – were deemed unhealthy by new federal guidelines for school cafeterias.

As a result, Elyria’s best cookie was banned from the district’s 16 schools. And, as is so often the case, demand only grew once the cookies were banned. It didn’t hurt that national media outlets, including Fox News and newspapers nationwide, ran with the story.

According to the Chronicle-Telegram of Lorain County, Ohio, the school district received over 100 calls and emails from across North America requesting the pink cookies by mail.

If you can’t get a hold of Elyria’s banned pink cookies, we’ve got you covered. With Fairytale Brownies, you can order cookies by mail in a variety of flavors.

Double Chocolate is one of our best cookie flavors. They certainly go over well in the Phoenix home of Fairytale Brownies regular...

Give out Belgian Chocolate Brownies for Sweetest Day.

I was born in California and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, so when someone mentioned Sweetest Day to me I asked, “What is that?” I never celebrated it growing up, but my Midwestern boyfriend knows all about it. Turns out, it is a holiday mainly celebrated in the Midwest and Northeastern United States. Wait! Another holiday focused around sweets? I can get behind that! (Any excuse to eat Belgian Chocolate Brownies!)  I decided to do a little research on the history of this day.

Herbert Birch Kingston, a candy maker and philanthropist started Sweetest Day to bring happiness to orphans, shut-ins and other underprivileged children. Some of the biggest movie stars of the day, including Theda Bara and Ann Pennington, distributed the candy. Kingston wanted to show that these children had not been forgotten.

Today, it is celebrated among family and friends. So, I have to ask. Is this like another Valentine’s Day? Apparently hearts, reds and pinks are still related to this day, and Hallmark has...

Pumpkin Dip is especially tasty with Fairytale Brownies, Cookies, Bars

open house, gourmet brownies, pumpkin

I've been gathering recipes for a variety of dessert dips and recently made this WHIPPED PUMPKIN DIP to serve with our Fairytale Brownies, Cookies and Bars at next week's After Hours Open House.

It's extremely easy to make, and quite tasty. I brought a batch of dip with a variety of gourmet brownies cut into smaller pieces to a party. During the evening, I noticed someone dipping raw vegetables into the pumpkin mixture. She said she was just using the carrot sticks as a serving utensil to eat the dip by itself.

If you like pumpkin and whipped cream, you might do the same thing.

WHIPPED PUMPKIN DIP

Found on Pinterest from Angela G., via The Mighty Mrs.
1 (8 oz.) container of whipped topping

1 (15 oz.) can pumpkin

1 (1.34 oz.) package instant vanilla pudding

A pinch cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and allspice (I used pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon to taste)

Mix together pumpkin, vanilla pudding (just the powder) and spices. Fold in whipped cream.

Serve with gourmet brownies, cookies and bars cut into...

Fairytale Brownies Wedding Gift Favors are a Hit!

So as I've mentioned before, sometimes I'll post customer comments that have been sent to us via our website contact-us form. This really cute comment came in last night and it was too enjoyable not to share! Below is a comment sent to us regarding our brownie gift favors being a hit at her daughters wedding:

"My daughter was trying to decide on favors for her wedding that weren't going to be left behind or stuffed in drawers when people got home. Their theme was kind of fantasy (think Tolkein) and obviously Fairytale Brownies were a great tie-in. Everyone got a dark purple take out food box with a cookie, sprite or bar and two magic morsels, which was a perfect fit! The wedding was Saturday. Then it got a little weird! I came to a table and found seven grown-ups playing "I'll trade you a..." which then extended to the table next to them. At another table, by the time we were coming in for introductions, the boxes were empty with just the wrappers to show for them. . . before dinner! No...
