Excuse us for getting a little nerdy here, but today is Pi Day.
Get it? Itâ€™s March 14th. Thatâ€™s 3/14. And the numeric version of pi
is 3.14159 â€¦ You get the idea.Â
At Fairytale Brownies, we donâ€™t do pie. We do fudgy chocolate
brownies and gourmet cookies. And
they are delicious. But, hey, we know thereâ€™s room for pie too,
especially on Pi Day.
In a 2012 survey of 14,000 Americans, NPR found that our
nationâ€™s most popular pie is good old fashioned apple pie. Thatâ€™s
probably not surprising if youâ€™re familiar with the saying, â€śItâ€™s
as American as apple pie.â€ť
Seventeen percent of respondents listed apple as their favorite.
Surprisingly, strawberry rhubarb came in second at 16 percent.
Apple and strawberry rhubarb were followed in order by pumpkin (14
percent), cherry (11 percent), and blueberry (8 percent). Popular
also-rans included pecan, peach, and key lime.
