Come play with Fairytale Brownies and help raise funds to build a playground

We are getting ready for our Playdate/Open House on Thursday and we can't wait for our Fairytale Friends to join us.

This year's theme for the event focuses on PLAY because we are building a playground with our national nonprofit KaBOOM! for Arizona Autism Charter School in Phoenix.

The biggest draw for our fans is our $1 "imperfect" brownies, cookies and bars. The treats taste delicious, they just don't meet Fairytale's standards for looking perfect. All proceeds from the $1 sale will go the playground which will be built in March 2017. Please be aware that availability of every flavor is not guaranteed with these "imperfect" treats.

Because the $1 treats are such a hit, there usually is a wait to purchase them. But don't worry, you will have options to make the time go by. Throw some bean bags through the Brownie Guy's belly; hula hoop to some tunes; or throw whiffle balls into a bucket to win fudgy brownies.

Thursday's event begins at 3 p.m. The first 100 people attending will receive...

Fairytale Brownies Celebrates 24 Years of Spreading Sweet Joy

Fairytale Brownies Co-founders David Kravetz and Eileen Spitalny, friends since kindergarten, began their business in 1992 armed with an old family brownie recipe and the desire to create a brand, be their own bosses and do something fun. They wanted to be the Ben & Jerry's of brownies. So, with no baking skills, but an awesome brownie recipe, they did it! They learned and listened, and now Fairytale bakes 7 million brownies a year, and is still growing. Fairytale Brownies celebrates 24 years in business this week, and I have to say - I'm so glad that David and Eileen learned how to bake brownies and chose to share them with the world.

And boy, have they've been sharing! From our humble beginnings and samplings at farmer's markets and local street festivals, to our presentations at the Cannes Film Festival, Fairytale Brownies has become a favorite mail order gift among brownie lovers, dessert lovers and chocolate lovers alike. Although many people know about our gourmet treats, our work...

A Fairytale Brownies Birthday Wish for Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss, brownie, birthdayHappy 112th birthday, to my favorite author from childhood, Dr. Seuss!

Although Theodor Seuss Geisel passed away in 1991, his books remain a part of children's lives today. I don't think there is an adult alive who doesn't smile when thinking about the Cat in the Hat, Horton, or the Grinch,  Here's a Fairytale birthday wish dedicated Dr. Seuss (never as good as the master, of course!).

If I had Dr. Seuss' address, I'd send him a gourmet chocolate gift

that would surely give him a much-needed lift.

Fudge brownies, gourmet brownies, care packages of pure enchantment.

He would open the box and wonder from who on earth this gift was sent.

Then he'd taste a brownie, or two, or more,

and wonder why he never heard of Fairytale before.

He'll jump with delight, he'll smile a giant smile.

Fairytale Brownies will put the "happy" back in birthday - a feeling not felt in awhile.

As he licks his fingers and finishes every last crumb,

he'll say, "These are the best brownies! How can I get more to come?"

Stock Up on Peanut Butter Brownies and Cookies; Make Way for New Flavors!

peanut butter brownieI experienced my first Fairytale Brownie 10 years ago this month. I had just interviewed for my position here and was told I could choose any flavor brownie to take with me. Although there were 12 flavors screaming my name, creamy Peanut Butter shouted the loudest.

I was going to wait until I got home at the end of the day to share the giant 3" x 3" dark chocolate square with my husband and children. But as I headed to work from the interview, that Peanut Butter brownie was too tempting to be ignored. I didn't just take a bite... I ate the whole thing! I told myself that I was conducting market research. Then I reasoned that the brownie was breakfast. Then I accepted facts: The fudge brownie was heavenly, and I was hooked.

Since that first brownie experience, I've changed my favorite flavor many times. peanut butter cookieThat's the great thing about Fairytale Brownies - we have plenty of gourmet flavors that turn into customer favorites.

Although we will be retiring our Peanut Butter Brownie and Peanut...

Show good manners! Value their referrals with gourmet food gifts they'll love

Our Moms taught us the importance of the thank-you note - heartfelt gratitude for kindness shown. It's just good manners.

gourmet brownies, fudge browniesWhen it comes to business, thank-you notes are a must - especially when a customer or client refers your business. They are paying you the ultimate compliment. They value your service, trust you and your product, and have confidence in your abilities.

Why not express your gratitude for their referral with a little more than just a thank-you note?

I recommend a food gift like gourmet brownies from Fairytale Brownies. Think about it. You can't go wrong with a food gift because everyone eats! If you discover your recipient doesn't care for fudge brownies, send chewy cookies or buttery bars instead.

Referrals are strong business builders. When a client or customer tells their friend about your awesome service or product, they not only are advertising for you, they're building your reputation as a trusted and valued business.

The clients don't have to say a word about your...

Appreciate your favorite teachers with fudge brownies from Fairytale

I would thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you my heart has no bottom. - Author Unknown

gourmet food giftsWe all have at least one teacher in our lives who holds a special place. Maybe he took the extra time to explain calculus so you wouldn't fail math class; maybe her sense of humor made you forget you were learning; maybe he challenged you with difficult exams so you would reach deep within and know how to produce more when needed.

We celebrate those wonderful influencers during the first week of May for Teacher Appreciation Week. Flowers, crafts, gift cards, poems, and coffee mugs are just some of gifts we give to those who inspire and motivate. I may be partial, but I think food gifts - specifically gourmet brownie gifts - are the best way to show your appreciation.

Fairytale Brownies offers elegant favor boxes filled with your choice of three sizes of individually wrapped fudge brownies... a perfect snack while grading papers or for an anytime treat. The box is beautiful, the brownies are...

Are gourmet cookies a safer pick than cookie dough shots?

gourmet cookieCookie dough is all the rage these days. The Roasting Plant coffee shop in downtown Detroit has hopped on the bandwagon with gourmet cookie dough shots.

As described in an article in the Detroit Free Press, “The uncooked dough balls, studded with chunks of dark chocolate, are sold in shot-glass-sized plastic cups in a cooler in front of the shop's cash registers.”

Small shots, the equivalent of half a cookie, are $1.49. Large shots, equal to a whole cookie, cost $2.49.

As we posted earlier this year, the USDA warned consumers on Twitter: “Don’t eat the raw dough! It contains uncooked eggs that may contain Salmonella bacteria.” But don’t worry about these cookie dough shots being a threat to your health.

Shop manager Kristen Wing has taken this into consideration, as she explained to the Detroit Free Press. “The cookie dough is the same as the cookies, except it's made with pasteurized eggs so it won't make you sick,” Wing said.

Given that, stop by the Roasting Plant and grab a gourmet...

Fairytale Brownies donates teambuilding efforts to Sojourner Center

Four of us just got back from delivering a van full of Radio Flyer Red Wagons and Tricycles to the children at Sojourner Center in Phoenix.

brownies, wagons

The squeals of delight from the preschoolers when they saw the trikes and wagons lined up on their playground made my heart skip a beat. Those kids were adorable!

One little 4-year-old boy hopped on a trike and took off around the walkway at full speed. Others took their time and checked out the goods before trying them out. (The adults were delighted as well. We brought fudge brownies for them to share.)

I wish all our team members at Fairytale Brownies could have been with us at the center, but I know they had just as much fun building the toys for the children at our teambuilding event the day before.

During the event, eight Fairytale Brownies teams played games to earn parts to build their tricycles and wagons. They burst balloons on their bellies, caught balls in buckets on their heads, lit up tap lights with thrown bean bags, and found color-coded...

Cookies by mail – or in your ice cream

mail order cookiesAt Fairytale Brownies, we’re known best for our gourmet brownies, but you might also know us for our lineup of delicious mail order cookies.

We’re not the only dessert company to engage into the cookie game. Ben & Jerry’s, which has a long history of producing excellent cookie-based ice cream products, recently launched three new flavors of ice cream that are actually wrapped around a core of cookie and cookie butter. Yum!

Here’s the inside scoop (get it?!) on Ben & Jerry’s new cookie core products:

  • Boom Chocolatta! Cookie Core includes mocha and caramel ice creams with chocolate cookies, fudge flakes, and a chocolate cookie core.
  • Peanut Buttah Cookie Core is peanut butter ice cream with crunchy peanut butter sugar bits, peanut butter cookies, and a peanut butter cookie core.
  • Spectacular Speculoos Cookie Core is dark caramel and vanilla ice cream with speculoos cookies and speculoos cookie butter core.

That all sounds delicious to us! That said, we enjoy cookies outside our ice cream as well.
