Send Fudgy Chocolate Brownies for the Chinese New Year!

Did you know that January 31st is the Chinese New Year? It is a major holiday in the Chinese culture, where families get together to celebrate good fortune and happiness for the coming new year. Each year is presided over by an animal zodiac, and this year is the year of the horse!

If you or someone you know celebrate the Chinese New Year, then make sure to wish them happiness and good fortune by sending them a Chinese New Year's brownie gift from Fairytale Brownies. As one of the graphic designers here, I got to design the messaging for these new gourmet gifts. In keeping with Chinese traditions, the gift band has a joyful red and yellow message of Happy New Year, and is accompanied by a dragon, a legendary and important animal in the Chinese culture. There are also Chinese lanterns representing the Lantern Festival, a celebration full of lights, firecrackers, and food!

Gourmet Cookie S'mores

One of my favorite things about winter is cozying up next to a warm fire! This year I was a little more adventurous and went winter camping. Of course here in Arizona, it didn't get below freezing, but I did appreciate that camp fire. A great past time around the fire is roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. Yum! This time, however, I decided to give it a Fairytale Brownies twist by making Peanut Butter Cookie S'mores. It was simple, fun, and delicious! Follow this recipe and instructions to make your own gourmet cookie s'mores!

You will need:
Fairytale Brownies' Peanut Butter Cookies- Two for each s'more you would like to make. Simply visit our website at brownies.com and order yourself a cookie delivery! You can buy in bulk and save, or order a cookie gift. I recommend the Peanut Butter Cookies, but try experimenting with other flavors as well!
Large Marshmallows
Chocolate Bar- I used Hershey
A metal wire or stick for roasting

Directions:
Start by laying your ingredients out at the...

The list includes honeyed apricot tassies, cherry lime brownies, oatmeal blues drop cookies, strawberry pistachio icebox cookies, no-bake cranberry coconut bites, mango marshmallow bars, apple-orange spice drops, peanut butter and jelly cookies, ice cream cone caramel date bars, sweet-and-salty kitchen sink cookies, brown butter fig thumbprint cookies, and tropical almond macaroons.

We’re particularly interested in the oatmeal blues drop cookie, which the Associated Press described as:

“Everyone loves a basic oatmeal cookie. But these are no ordinary oatmeal cookies. In addition to studding them with chewy, sweet dried blueberries,...

Fairytale Brownies Holiday Season Blast From the Past!

As we approach the month of December and the upcoming holidays, I find myself reminiscing about the one season we actually ran out of brownies, believe it or not!!!

It was 1997 and we were a few years into the business when we had an unexpected rush on brownies for the holidays, so mid-December we actually ran out of some of our brownie flavors.  We were unable to bake anymore of the delectable Belgian chocolate brownies because our very tiny commercial kitchen had been transformed into a shipping department.  We only had a limited selection of brownie flavors available, so we made due with what we had. . . . Needless to say, we've never forgotten "the season we ran out of brownies".  We've definitely come a long way since then and now occupy a large production facility with plenty of space for baking and shipping, so we plan to never have that problem again!

If you've been a fan of Fairytale Brownies for a while you know that we no longer just carry our famous brownies, but over the...

Fudgy brownie-gourmet cookie combo turns heads in Pennsylvania

72 gourmet cookiesIf you were in Pennsylvania this summer, you may have stopped by the Gold Medal Flour Scratch Bakers Cookie Challenge at the Great Allentown Fair. Well, we would have anyway!

If we love anything as much as fudgy chocolate brownies, it’s gourmet cookies – whether they’re homemade or baked by hand here at Fairytale Brownies.

The contest featured 19 original cookie creations judged on appearance, taste, and texture. Deb Gruber of Slatington, Penn., won the top $100 prize with a Hawaiian cookie filled with whipped topping and covered with coconut, chopped nuts, and pineapple.

Our interest was piqued by Sara Kurtz of Emmaus, Penn., and her Chocolate Chip Nutella Bar. The treat was described by Kelly Huth of the Express-Times of Pennsylvania:

“There was a fudgy brownie-cookie mash-up with walnuts and fudge and caramel and every other possible bad-for-you-thing they could throw in a cookie. Holy mackerel, that was good. I gave that one a full score.”

We would’ve given it a full score too! It...

Livin' La Vida Aloha!

Working for Fairytale Brownies has given me a much greater appreciation for the hard work that goes into making our delicious gourmet brownies. From the harvest of the cocoa bean to the sweet taste of chocolate, I’ve learned so much in my years working here and have taught many about chocolate and where it comes from. I’m very passionate, and love sharing my knowledge with others and especially love learning something new.

On a recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands, I toured Purdy’s All Natural Macadamia Nut Farm on the island of Molokai and learned so much about this little nut that has become my personal favorite!  Ever wonder why these nuts are so pricey? It takes seven years for the mac tree to bear fruit and cannot be harvested until the fruit falls, and then it is gathered by hand. Ninety percent of the world’s macadamia nuts are grown in Hawaii and Purdy’s Farm is one of the few that is family owned and all-natural. It was a great learning experience for me and I had a lots of fun...
