Employee Appreciation Day is March 7th!

Bosses have a day to celebrate themselves . . . why not employees too?! Did you know that this Friday, March 7, 2014 is National Employee Appreciation Day? 2. Starbucks: How about a mid-afternoon Starbucks break where everyone gets their favorite drink? An afternoon caffeine jolt is always welcomed and appreciated.

Fudgy chocolate brownies or pie? You decide

Excuse us for getting a little nerdy here, but today is Pi Day. Get it? It’s March 14th. That’s 3/14. And the numeric version of pi is 3.14159 … You get the idea. fudgy chocolate brownies

At Fairytale Brownies, we don’t do pie. We do fudgy chocolate brownies and gourmet cookies. And they are delicious. But, hey, we know there’s room for pie too, especially on Pi Day.

In a 2012 survey of 14,000 Americans, NPR found that our nation’s most popular pie is good old fashioned apple pie. That’s probably not surprising if you’re familiar with the saying, “It’s as American as apple pie.”

Seventeen percent of respondents listed apple as their favorite. Surprisingly, strawberry rhubarb came in second at 16 percent. Apple and strawberry rhubarb were followed in order by pumpkin (14 percent), cherry (11 percent), and blueberry (8 percent). Popular also-rans included pecan, peach, and key lime.

We don’t have beef with pie, whether it’s an American standard like apple pie or something a little strange like strawberry rhubarb.

But...

A Twenty Year Fairytale with Fairytale Brownies!

I never thought I'd still be here, but twenty years later here I am still working at Fairytale Brownies, and what a Fairytale it's been!

This "Fairytale Journey" (as I call it) began when I answered a want ad in the Arizona State University school paper.  At the time I was hired to sell our delicious gourmet Belgian chocolate brownies at street fairs, festivals and farmer's markets across the Valley.  I also helped out wherever I was needed - in a small entrepreneurial start-up, everyone does everything.  Some days that meant cracking eggs to help Mike (Eileen's husband and our first baker) and Ron (neighborhood friend, baker, band member) in the kitchen, delivering brownies to grocery stores, working our tiny retail shop, taking orders over the phone. . . the list goes on and on!  As the word got out and we attended more events, people began asking if we would ship Fairytale Brownies to family and friends, so we did, and that's how the mail order aspect of the business came to be.  Now...

Pick up some fudge brownies before Spring Training games

fudge brownies at baseball gameWhile most of the country is dealing with mountains of snow and adverse weather conditions, we in Arizona are preparing for Cactus League Spring Training. For the next five weeks, 15 Major League Baseball teams will play ball, and thousands of us will soak up the Arizona sun and watch.

fudge brownies baseball gameOur Fairytale Brownies bakery is just a short distance to three of the stadiums: the Los Angeles Angels in Tempe, The Oakland A's in Phoenix and the Chicago Cubs in Mesa. Because we're so close to the ballparks, you might want to leave the house a little earlier and make your perfect baseball day a "Fairytale Day":

Stop by our bakery early. Watch the bakers melt, mix, bake, cut and wrap fudge brownies. Sample a fudge brownie or a gourmet cookie, and then buy brownies to snack on at the game! Stick them in your purse or pocket and head on over to the ballpark.

Our fudge brownies go great with beer, water and pretty much any beverage that is served at a baseball game so you can't go wrong with picking up a...

Potential employers meet ASU engineering students, sample fudge brownies

fudge brownies

For the past couple of years, I have had the pleasure of participating in the Arizona State University Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Career Fair. Twice a year, 2,500 engineering students have the opportunity to meet about 150 future employers from all over the country.

I bring plenty of fudge brownies and gourmet cookies to the fair for the students and visiting corporations. The fair is a great way for the students to learn what types career opportunities are available in either a full-time position or in paid or unpaid internships.

From Fairytale Brownies' viewpoint, the fair is an opportunity to be a part of the community and show attending corporations our gourmet brownie gifts and custom options.

We so enjoy collaborating with the folks at ASU School of Engineering. With each semester, our partnership strengthens and the business grows. Here's to a bright future with ASU!

National Chocolate Fondue Day and fudge brownies - a taste bud sensation

fudge browniesI heard today is National Chocolate Fondue Day and now I'm craving Fairytale Spicy Chili Chocolate Fondue. Ok, so it's only 8 a.m., but this fondue deserves the early morning rave.

Heavy whipping cream  and sweetened condensed milk combine with ancho chili pepper, cinnamon, vanilla and cayenne pepper, butter, sugar and, of course, chocolate chips. Gather some fudge brownies, gourmet cookies and bars, fresh fruit and other treats, and dip until the plate is empty. I promise that your taste buds will be in ecstasy.

There's still time to order brownies from Fairytale for Valentine's Day and serve them with this delicious fondue.

Licking the spoon on this one is a must!

Buy Brownies Online and Celebrate National Peanut Butter Day

January 24 is National Peanut Butter Day! I personally think peanut butter is one of the greatest creations know to man. Filling, chalk full of protein, in a yummy, gooey spread: Who doesn't like Peanut Butter? Plus it goes with almost anything. What is childhood without those peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? I also love putting it on fruit like apples, and vegetables like celery. Yum!

Velvety peanut butter and smooth dark chocolate compliment each other in our Peanut Butter Brownie. We also make a delicious Peanut Butter Cookie, baked with natural peanut butter and pure sugar cane, giving this cookie that classic peanut butter taste.

Visit brownies.com and buy brownies online or order a cookie delivery. You can choose from a number of gourmet gifts, or if you get hooked on one flavor, like I often do, you can also buy in bulk and save! We offer...

gourmet browniesFairy Grandmother Melinda Vail visited Fairytale Brownies last week to speak to young people about the important ingredients needed to become global citizens.
