Turkey Tuesday at Fairytale Brownies!

700 Cans of Food Donated by Fairytale Brownies!

Fairytale Brownies participated in the Valley's largest canned food drive, "The Million Can Crusade" hosted by 102.5 KNIX. The goal each year is to raise one million cans and I just received word that the goal has been exceeded! This wonderful charity event benefits St. Vincent de Paul to help feed needy families and end hunger. I am so pleased to announce that  I collected 700 cans of food that were donated by our generous team members here at Fairytale Brownies!

Here is a picture of me with "Barrel Boy" from KNIX as he graciously accepted the donation of canned goods. I thanked him for his hard work and gave him a gift of Fairytale Brownies!  This was a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Enchanting Halloween Celebration at Fairytale Brownies

Our Enchanting day in Fairyland..........

Who says you can't work hard and have fun, too? There's nothing healthier in the workplace than adding a little fun and Halloween is the perfect time for our team members to show their true colors and let their hair down! In addition to allowing our team members to dress in costume, we had a company-wide Halloween Dessert Pot Luck! Fairytale Brownies contributed to the Pot Luck by providing our very own Yummy Fairytale Caramel Pecan Cookies!  I honestly don't think I've ever witnessed so many desserts and such creativity by our team members!

As we were enjoying our treats, we received our 2nd Annual Halloween visit from the cutest little cowboy in all of the southwest "Sully the Cowboy," grandson of Nancy V., CSR. As Sully left Fairyland, his only word was "FUN!" I think its safe to say we had a very enchanting day here at Fairytale Brownies!

Livin' La Vida Aloha!

Working for Fairytale Brownies has given me a much greater appreciation for the hard work that goes into making our delicious gourmet brownies. From the harvest of the cocoa bean to the sweet taste of chocolate, I’ve learned so much in my years working here and have taught many about chocolate and where it comes from. I’m very passionate, and love sharing my knowledge with others and especially love learning something new.

On a recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands, I toured Purdy’s All Natural Macadamia Nut Farm on the island of Molokai and learned so much about this little nut that has become my personal favorite!  Ever wonder why these nuts are so pricey? It takes seven years for the mac tree to bear fruit and cannot be harvested until the fruit falls, and then it is gathered by hand. Ninety percent of the world’s macadamia nuts are grown in Hawaii and Purdy’s Farm is one of the few that is family owned and all-natural. It was a great learning experience for me and I had a lots of fun...

A Life Lesson in Chocolate

A small act of kindness yields many thanks by local students and makes my day!

Walking into work after being out of the office for a week, my in-box was filled with papers, I had received 248 emails, 6 voice mails, and one large manila envelope addressed to me personally. Curiosity made me open the manila envelope first. Inside were hand made "Thank You" cards from local students who wanted to show their appreciation for me taking a little time out of my day to share my passion about chocolate. I was very touched by the personalization of the cards and smiled very big as I read each one :) In today's world of technology and most communication becoming electronic, it was heart warming and refreshing to know my small act of kindness yielded such thanks and in return, I  was the one who walked away with the greatest appreciation of all!

It's a Girl! Custom Label Cookies Make a Great Baby Shower Favor

I recently hosted a baby shower for my daughter Jen who is pregnant with her first child. Needless to say, I'm thrilled at the mere thought of becoming a Grammy as I've waited a very long time! Planning the baby shower was so much fun especially selecting the favor to give each guest. We wanted to give something special, unique, and memorable that every guest would enjoy. The first gift that came to mind was Fairytale Custom Label Cookies!

We worked with our Custom Order Department here at Fairytale Brownies to customize the cookie labels and we were so happy with the end result! The labels were designed with the shower theme, name, date, and signature colors of the baby's room, green & pink! (Did I mention it's a girl??) We selected our four favorite flavors of Fairytale Cookies: Caramel Pecan, Double Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Coconut Walnut; each topped with a custom label. The oohs and aahs of the guests as they reached into the basket to get their treats certainly made us...

Sharing my Passion for Chocolate with local Students

Mesquite High School Students visit Fairytale Brownies

My friend Lisa Heigl and her students from Mesquite High School stopped by the Fairytale Bakery today to check out what was cooking in our kitchen! Although the students were unable to go into our kitchen, our retail store has a viewing window where customers can actually watch the entire process. The students were quite impressed with the action they witnessed today; mixing of our ingredients in our large purple mixer, lots & lots of walnuts for toppings, and then the baking of our brownies in our very large ovens! This process is very similar to what they see at home but on a much larger scale. After watching the process the students became very curious as to where chocolate comes from. That's where I come in to the picture! Sharing my knowledge about chocolate has become one of my many passions and I was more than thrilled to explain the process.

The students learned that chocolate really does grow on trees! A tropical tree...
