Custom cutters for creative cookie gifts

Some people are quite content with circular cookies. We can’t recall ever receiving a complaint about the roundness of the treats in our cookie baskets.

However, for some brave souls, circles are a bit square. Think about it. When you’re offering cookie gifts to your friends and loved ones, you want to personalize them a bit.

That’s why we loved The Daily Meal’s recent slideshow of 10 creative sets of cookie cutters.

They’ve compiled quite a list, from three-dimensional dinosaurs to pugs and hedgehogs and from moustaches to ninjas and zombies. Heck, they even found a set of Game of Thrones sigil cookie cutters. (For the record, I’m with House Targaryen.)

As they wrote in the intro, “You could go with boring old Christmas trees and gingerbread men shapes, sure. Or, you could kick it up several notches with some awesome and creative themed cutters! Seriously, let’s separate your cookies from the pack of Pinterest fails and boring shapes with some inventive and hilarious cookie cutters.”

It seems you have two choices when delivering cookie gifts. You can make your own cookies and add some pizzazz with creative cookie cutters like these. Or, if you want to send some circular sweetness, order cookie baskets from us.

Either way, the recipient is bound to be impressed.

Happy cookie cutting!

In honor of National Cheesecake Day and courtesy of Wikipedia, here are four fun facts about cheesecake:

  • The cheesecake Americans know and love came about after New Yorker William Lawrence invented cream cheese in 1872.
  • There are two main types of cheesecake in America. Philadelphia cheesecake is lighter in texture and richer in flavor than New York cheesecake.
  • While cream cheese is the base for cheesecakes in the U.S., Italian cheesecakes feature...

We were excited to learn that July 23 is National Vanilla Ice Cream Day. We love vanilla at Fairytale Brownies. vanilla fairytale bars

You may be wondering what Fairytale Brownies knows about vanilla. That’s OK. After all, we’re best known for our Belgian chocolate brownies.

In 2012, we introduced a new line of brownie gifts with vanilla and brown sugar – instead of fudge – as a key ingredient. Our new Fairytale Bars are already a hit, as we learned from Doc Owen of Paradise Valley, Ariz.. He rated the bars five stars and wrote: “These new bars are fabulously rich and moist.”

Each bar begins with fine cake flour, organic vanilla extract, pure creamery butter, and dark brown sugar. The difference is in the toppings! Today, we offer four flavors: Cheesecake Swirl, Chocolate Chip Blondie, Pecan Blondie, and Raspberry White Chocolate. You can try all four varieties in our Fairytale Bar Dozen.

Plus, we’ll soon be adding two new flavors to the mix. Get ready for Cinnamon Crumb and Lemon Blondie. We can’t wait for...

Woman owns enough jars to have cookies delivered 72 at a time

Eva Fuchs has a minor problem. 72 gourmet cookies

Fuchs, a resident of Indiana’s Franklin County, recently set the record for the world’s largest cookie jar collection with 2,653 jars. Amazingly, every single cookie jar is unique from every other.

Franklin County Commissioner Scott McDonough explained his process for assisting in the official tally.  “They had to count 2,653 cookie jars and convince themselves they were all different. We probably spent two or three hours counting the jars. At the end of the day, it was quite a collection.”

So, what’s the problem?

A headline in the Batesville Herald-Tribune recently asked: What will they put in all those jars? Great questions! And we have an answer. They could start by having gourmet cookies delivered from Fairytale Brownies!

Baked with the same premium, all-natural ingredients as our famous brownies, our moist and chewy Fairytale Cookies taste just like homemade. Plus, our gourmet cookies are available in six delicious flavors: peanut butter, mint chocolate,...

Ship brownies and gourmet cookies to dessert-deprived Japan

Could you spend the rest of the summer without fudgy chocolate brownies or gourmet cookies? One of America’s closest friends could become a dessert desert in the near future. ship brownies to japan

Japan’s ministry of agriculture has sent out a distress signal for more wheat. Why? Because Japan imports up to 90 percent of its wheat from the U.S., Canada, and Australia and one upcoming shipment has been disapproved by the country’s ministry of agriculture.

So, according to Bloomberg, Asia’s second-largest importer of wheat badly needs an additional shipment of 2,000 metric tons … or else it risks a shortage of fudgy chocolate brownies, gourmet cookies, and other desserts that rely on imported wheat.

“We have to hedge the risk that Japanese flour millers will face a supply shortage because of the prolonged suspension of imports,” Hiromi Iwahama, the ministry of agriculture director of grain trading, told Bloomberg.

A shortage of desserts? That’s no way to spend a summer.

Fortunately, Fairytale Brownies stands...

Happy birthday to a gourmet brownie inspiration

Today marks an important anniversary for a staple of many people’s pre-office morning routines and one of our most popular gourmet brownie flavors. espresso nib gourmet brownie

On this day, we celebrate the birthday of Angelo Moriondo. Who? Born on June 6, 1851 in Turin, Italy, Moriondo is considered by many (including Wikipedia) to have invented the world’s first espresso machine to serve the eye-opening beverage to guests in his hotel.

Considering the staying power of the espresso machine, it’s surprising that the invention only received a bronze medal when presented at the General Expo of Turin in 1884. (We’d love to see the gold and silver medalists!) Nonetheless, Moriondo was given a patent for a “new steam machinery for the economic and instantaneous confection of coffee beverage.”

There’s no doubt that espresso makes a tasty morning beverage. It also makes a tasty gourmet brownie. Our Espresso Nib Brownies and Espresso Nib Sprites are filled with a rich espresso flavor and sprinkled with crushed cocoa nibs

Kitchen catastrophe? Next time order brownie gifts or cookie baskets

If baking brownies, cookies, and other gourmet desserts was easy, we’d all do it. Right? Well, most of us certainly try. And most of us succeed. At least most of the time.

And then some times, we don’t. Instead, we’re left with no other option but to laugh at ourselves and our cringe-worthy kitchen catastrophes. In these moments, we probably wonder why we didn’t just order brownie gifts or cookie baskets instead.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then these pictures of ultimate baking failures are worth a thousand laughs.

(Thank you to good-natured Reddit users for posting their embarrassing photos and to Huffington Post for collecting 14 of the best into an article entitled: Cookie Fail: Reasons You Should Be Easier On Yourself When You Mess Up.)

We’ve included two of our favorite cookie fails in this post. For example, check out the picture above of peanut butter cookies that were so hard that they broke the spatula. Or, enjoy the photo below of chocolate chip cookies that seem...
