This summer, much of the world’s attention has been on soccer and the World Cup. That’s fine by us, but let’s be honest about one thing.
In this country, summertime is all about baseball.
During baseball season, you might bring a gift basket of bite-size Magic Morsels to a celebration of your Little League team’s last game. Or you might order brownies by the half-dozen to sneak into a big league game with the family.
Or, if you’re feeling a bit adventurous, you could bake a gift basket full of baseball-themed treats.
The Gunny Sack blogger Tonia posted a fun recipe for baking cookie cups in the shape of baseball caps. We love the idea of letting the kids decorate the cookie cups in their team colors after they emerge from the oven.
Tonia explained the inspiration behind the cookies on her blog.
“The last time that I made cookie cups, a few of them overflowed in the mini muffin tin. When I popped them out once they were cool, I noticed that the when they were upside down, they looked like baseball hats. So, I decided to run with the idea.”
If you’re ready to follow Tonia’s lead this baseball season, get yourself in the kitchen and get to work. Or, if you want to take it easy, order brownies to celebrate the boys (and girls) of summer.
