In our case, childhood friends David Kravetz and Eileen Spitalny launched Fairytale Brownies in the fall of 1992. They baked late at night in a friend’s catering kitchen. With the support of family, friends, and a secret family recipe, they built the successful business that Fairytale Brownies is today.
Our success took hard work, perseverance, and at least a little bit of luck.
That’s why we were struck by the story of Valorie Mitts of Oak Park, Ill. In 2008, Valerie was forced to close the Lil’ Red Wagon Coffee House.
Fortunately, Valerie refused to give up her dream.
According to the Forest Park Patch, she reopened the Lil’ Red Wagon Coffee House in April of this year and business is booming. The coffee shop sells sandwiches, wraps, soups, and muffins, but the focus is on Valerie’s unique cookie creations. She’s developed over 50 flavors from peanut butter and jelly to mint julep!
Way to go, Valerie. Your cookies sound delicious!
