Excuse us for getting a little nerdy here, but today is Pi Day. Get it? It’s March 14th. That’s 3/14. And the numeric version of pi is 3.14159 … You get the idea.
In a 2012 survey of 14,000 Americans, NPR found that our nation’s most popular pie is good old fashioned apple pie. That’s probably not surprising if you’re familiar with the saying, “It’s as American as apple pie.”
Seventeen percent of respondents listed apple as their favorite. Surprisingly, strawberry rhubarb came in second at 16 percent. Apple and strawberry rhubarb were followed in order by pumpkin (14 percent), cherry (11 percent), and blueberry (8 percent). Popular also-rans included pecan, peach, and key lime.
We don’t have beef with pie, whether it’s an American standard like apple pie or something a little strange like strawberry rhubarb.
But, after you’ve had your fill of pie on Pi Day, think about us. We’d happily follow up on all that pie by delivering fudgy chocolate brownies and gourmet cookies to the home or office of your friends, family, or business contacts.
