Working for Fairytale Brownies has given me a much greater appreciation for the hard work that goes into making our delicious gourmet brownies. From the harvest of the cocoa bean to the sweet taste of chocolate, I’ve learned so much in my years working here and have taught many about chocolate and where it comes from. I’m very passionate, and love sharing my knowledge with others and especially love learning something new.
On a recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands, I toured Purdy’s All Natural Macadamia Nut Farm on the island of Molokai and learned so much about this little nut that has become my personal favorite! Ever wonder why these nuts are so pricey? It takes seven years for the mac tree to bear fruit and cannot be harvested until the fruit falls, and then it is gathered by hand. Ninety percent of the world’s macadamia nuts are grown in Hawaii and Purdy’s Farm is one of the few that is family owned and all-natural. It was a great learning experience for me and I had a lots of fun learning how to crack a mac!
As I was leaving the island of Maui, I visited Honolulu Cookie Company so I could bring home some Hawaiian ONO! (means delicious). I thought to myself, so many choices here just like Fairytale Brownies! A very nice woman behind the counter explained to me that I could choose my own flavors and make my own gift box and once again, I thought to myself, just like Fairytale Brownies! I shared my thoughts with the saleswoman and explained that I work for a gourmet brownie company in Phoenix, Arizona and we offer similar options as well. The woman replied, “Do you work for Fairytale Brownies?” I said, “Yes, I do.” Come to find out, she is a huge fan of ours! Small world we live and always nice to find an FTB fan in the middle of the pacific ocean! I guess you could say, we both are making the world a sweeter place!
